How did it go in the MA last night? I am sure it went better than it did at my home. Logged on for about 10 minutes, was flying with starbird, banana, blutik, nifty for about 5 minutes and then had to log to deal with injuries. Just glad it was not a "real" TOD night.
KIDS FOR SALE "CHEAP"
Ages 8, 6, 4, and 10 months.
All but one is house broken. Three are girls, but one of the girls is a boy in disguise, (likes to fight and wrestle). Will throw in a box of Lego's and 6 Barbies.

I was begining to wonder if the TOD raid was called off...
It was Ugly, The TOD Knights only captured 1 feild and held it for 10mins IF I am correct.
The Rooks took many feilds and eventualy won a reset around 3am central.
There were many great fights thou. I personaly had a great time defending and attacking for my Rook motherland.
The only whining I heard reports of (1 squelched) was from Knights. I dont have any Idea if they were TOD guys or not.
Id say it was great victory for the Rooks ;D

I'm still scratching my head on this one.
We went knit to participate in this thing, and beat up on others by using the fact that we were used to employing element, squad and wing tactics in conducting operations together. Instead we were greeted with a mission to furball over a friendly field. Okay, got a few kills, but I thought the goal was to capture a bunch of fields.

Heh...you can say that Daddog. The reluctance of some of the TOD squads who fly Rook coupled with your info post in the announcement board pretty much put the brakes on anything we tried to do. The Bish and Rook had an alliance going and it seems that the Nightmares called all the Rook squads together like they do from time to time and they proceeded to reset the knits. Hell when I logged in the Rooks had us outnumbered and we were supposed to be the big kid on the block. :)

The reluctance of some of the TOD squads who fly
Hehe, sorry folks, I gotta jump in here ;). In the SEA Arena, my loyalties lie solely with the TOD, no questions asked. In the Main Arean, my loyalties lie with the Rooks. You asked us to make a choice by mixing the two, which in my mind shouldn't have been done. None the less, it happened, and I could not make a decision that could lead to me killing a fellow Rook, or worse yet a Squadmate.
Everyone talks about how folks need to get more organized in the Main Arena. Well, to me it starts with Countries working as a team and the Country members being loyal to each other and covering each other's six. We are starting to see that happen more and more in Rookland, and I for one wasn't about to take a step backward.
I don't begrudge anyone for the decisions they made regarding where to fly last night, but don't begrudge the decision I made.

I always fly for the Knights, but in the spirit of the TOD I would fly for another country, even against the Knights. I found out that flying and shooting someone down in this simulation that I really did not kill them. They are still alive, somewhere in front of their computer!!
So much for the spirit of things.
I figured it would be alot of fun. It was! I racked up a few kills in an A/C I hardly ever fly, the P-47. Plus it gave me a chance to fly with some people who I usually fly against! Rude, Yeager, Hangtime, BlueMako, and many others.
I hope we do it again and to me the TOD romp was truely successful, because I had alot of fun!!!! That's why I play!!
I just hope the I don't "take a step backwards" because I will fly against them! Hell, Im sure I and the Knights will recover! :)
Have A Nice Day!

Well, if the goal was to have fun, then mission accomplished. It's tough to do anything when you're outnumbered 2-1, but it was fun. Maybe next we can try to not announce to the world what we plan to do ;)
-
Well with the overwhelming Rook force coming south. They had rolled over us with absolutely no opposition from the bishes up north. We did leave the fray at 5 to capture 11 and what happened? We lost 5 then lost 11 again. not sure at one point it was 106 Bis 184 Knit and like 178 Rook not sure on numbers but that seems CLOSE. Not exact but close. We started in a hole with the only recourse was to furball and defend 5 which we did pretty well for quite some time. That map is terrible for this only 2 or 3 frontline bases at a time. They can really get rolling.
I hold no ill will to any of the rook guys who refused to switch over for 1 night. In the same breath I personally don't understand it, but that is life. To each his own and you performed admirably. I gotta agree announcing this to the whole world was a big mistake :) I mean what do you think woulda happened if FDR called Hitler the week before D-Day and said, "We will be landing at Normandy next week and we will kick you're butts back to Berlin!" The same thing that happened last night woulda happened. all who tried and died.

Personally I had a ball.
Sure we didn't get a reset and we weren't organised but it was a blast seeing so many guys head out from one field all on one mission. I'm not usually a furballer but I enjoyed flinging my Jug around and even managed a kill and a few assists on the first mission. Second mission I took a typh and got three kills and then promptly augered going for my fourth LOL.
All who participated. I had a ball.
On a side note, for all those who chose not to switch to knits, the choice was yours. My squaddie Fatz summed it up by saying that he didn't think it would be much fun for another country to get ganged by a 100 or so guys. As it turned out, the rooks and bish had more numbers than us and overran us! Anyway, I don't really care which side I fly for. They aren't real countries, these aren't even real planes, I just fly where the fun is or where my CO tells the squad to go. ;)
I hope we do this again. I had a ball just blowing stuff up, didn't really care if we got bases or not. :D

Guys I just want to say two things to you. One is the Nightmares were really worried you would all be mad at us. We have the untmost respect for all of you. Thanks for not getting mad :) .
The second thing is You all are a class act!
Just so you know 3 more Rookland squads are getting ready to sign up for the TOD if they haven't already due to Friday Nights event in the MA. WTG guys you were all very professional and you need not fly so damn good. I was getting tired of being shot down by familiar TOD names :D .
You guys rock!

Well, I am most surprised to hear that the Rooks won the reset, as when I logged shortly after 9.00 pm Eastern Time (2.00 am my time) the player numbers were building up for the Knights, and the Rooks were down to 4 fields! Knowing the TOD squads were due to do their thing for the Knights, I felt sure they would win the reset pretty quickly! Hehe, WTG Rooks! (from a Bishop!) :)
-
Flossy there was a reset one by the knits shortly before the MA TOD started. After the terrain change the rooks had almost as many as the knits, even with the TOD members in knitland. The Nightmares were rallying the rooks to hit the knits hard, that's why the TOD team got bogged down fighting hordes of rampaging rooks. :)

Ah, I see now! The expected reset did happen after all.... I must have missed an arena altogether then? When I saw the Baltic up I was thinking it followed Mindanao.... LOL :)

AAR:
Raub was not present at 10 min to the hour, so I posted one big P47 fighter sweep for A5, which had heavy attack from rooks underway.
We accomplished the fighter sweep at A5, preventing a capture, and then did a jabo to A11, successfully capturing it. Then most logged.
-
And it was very well done too Ripsnort. As soon as your counterattack was spotted the forces in the A5 and A6 area went on the defensive and you pushed them away from A5. The Rooks there really had a good time.
The attack on A11 was blast. I think you would have taken the base earlier except for some miscommunications among some of your guys. They hit our base hard but didn't get the city right away. It gave us time to up and it was a hell of a fight (and the most enjoyable time I had all night .. fighting in that desperate defense).
Very well run missions and very nice fighting in the face of some of some of the snags you guys ran into.
Would love to do it again on maybe even of a more formal level (set times, set places, maybe even see about borrowing the SEA arena for a RJO vs TOD night).
-
Iv tried not too say too much on this subject.
Still, The NightMares dont deserve all the Credit/Blame for the opposition to your TOD MA attack. There were other squads involved in this. On roughly the same level as the Nightmares.
Bragging and Whining aside, That night provided some great fights and action for the entire arena. Not a bad thing.
The Cactus Air Force was there, Working right along side GhostDancer and Nightmares, Plus many more excellent squadrons. We, The CAF, only had about half our roster available, but we fought hard and went where we needed.
Our squad as a Group is talking about trying TOD, But I wonder if would be welcome now, after working to twart your plans?
Also We are DieHard Rooks, and like the Nightmares would never fly against the motherland in the MA. Scenarios and Events are a different matter.
There was no "Alliance" with the Bishops, They chose to fight you for a while, But later attacked our flank. We had to deploy resources to the northern boarder and even had to take feilds from them in the south. They ended up aiding the Knights more than anything in the end.
Lastly, It was one of the finest evenings in the MA, intense fighting among many pilots and squads. I for one had a blast!

I speak for only myself, but to answer that question:
A) This was an excercise to build comraderie within the tough squads that have fought each other for months now in the TOD. Your squad chose not to be part of that comeraderie. That was your decision. For anyone here to harbor any ill feelings about such a decision would be meaningless IMO.
B) You didn't twart anything. Mission accomplished. :) Damn nice try though! :)

Grim,
We are not trying to be an "exclusive" club within AH. We want to sign up squads rather than have a bunch of walk-ons in order to maintain organization within the event.
Funked posted the idea and we liked the thought of ALL of us flying together and giving the MA a good taste of what we can do. I must admit I figured we would get in there and raise supreme hell ... I have not seen so many Rooks working together before! We didn't make the impact I imagined we would, but it was still fun. I hope we try it again sometime and maintain "security" with the communication.:)
I encourage you guys to register for the TOD on the events page and get involved. It is almost like flying a mini-scenario every week. If you guys don't enjoy it you can always back out.

Oh Great, Not an exclusive Club! Here I was looking forward the TOD Executive Sauna. Not to mention all the prettiest Nurses! Catered Meals, chauffered cars, The best Tee times, were all going be mine by joining the exclusive TOD Club. Ahhh all my dreams shattered! ;)
Dont be surprized to see the CAF in TOD, You guys all need a bunch of newbies to kick around. Just be careful of guys drinking Wingrippers, They tend to blow up if kicked ;)

(soon to be updated for AH)

We don't have an abundance of nurses, but Fatty's mom is up for grabs.:p

Funny thing, I had the pleasure of killing Fatty That night. I egged his GV at one of the feilds. This must surely allow me certain privledges with his Mom ;D
