The 109 has those rocket pods on.  Maybe he was trying to get close enough to hit you with a rocket?

its a bit of an optical illusion, the 109 was actaully about 50 or 100 away at the time.

p.s its still a cool pic  is'nt it

Looks like he's getting ready for a re-fuel! As long as the gunner doesn't sneeze and spit all over the 109's canopy...;)
