you might like these tidbits....

audio:lanc crew conversation over germany (http://www.sprigly.com/images/crew%20over%20Ger.mp3)

(with small narrative at the end - ignore it)

audio:another lanc crew (http://www.sprigly.com/images/WWII%20-%20BBC%20-%201943-09-03%20-%20Lancaster%20Over%20Berlin.mp3)

video:... of b17 vs 109  (http://www.sprigly.com/images/109vsb17.avi)

note:
look at the film about half way through - there is a shot where the 109 blows the tailgunner right out of the plane. the cannon rounds trace across the wing, then it looks like the crew pushes somthing out the side then you can see the smoke around the gunners seat and he either jumps or is sucked out.

you can barely see the legs flopping around. pretty chilling to me and brings home the reality of what those guys went through

I see the b17 first loosing what seems to be a metal plate from the inboard right engine, and what you say is the tail gunner looks more like a piece of the rudder or maybe the glass skeleton thing from the tail gun. It definetely looks like metal more than a guy.

But even then, its quite horrifying. That generation sure went through a lot :(

That first audio URL doesn't work.  Can you give us the whole URL?

I can't view the AVI file in Win95 either.  Anyone figure out what CODEC it wants?
