I don't know how many of us have this problem, but when flying over the sheep terrain tiles, I have quite a severe loss of frame rate. This only seems to be getting worse as the numbers of objects being displayed increases with the higher community membership.
Maybe if there was an option to turn them off in setup, or a command key switch that could allow us to do it while in flight.
Once again, I'm not sure if others are affected by this, but it would definitelly increase my enjoyment when dogfighting gets down close to the deck.

Try to turn off "Ground Clutter" that might help you...
-
Got ground clutter turned off, but still notice a performance loss over those tiles. Might just be a time to upgrade if others aren't having the same troubles.
Thanks for your reply.

Yeah manxer,
I have that problem too. Of all the graphics in the game the sheep kill the fps the worst.
Unfortunately they aren't included with the ground clutter and can't be turned off. :(

Which terrain are you in when you get this?
-
I get this too. I don't have any FPS to spare and the farkin sheep suck about 1/4 of it away. In the MA.

I have the problem too. I never really knew what it was until driving a GV once when I reached an area with sheep my fps went to hell in a handbasket.
First time I noticed it I "think" I was in the Baltic. Can't say if I ever noticed it in another map as whenever I get low enough to see sheep I reduce the graphics...ya, it's that bad.

HT,
For me it's all of them. Happens in film playback too. The trees are no problem, but when it gets to the sheep scattered about its like a slide show.
Time to cull the herd I think. :p

It seems to be all of the maps for me too.

It happens on all the terrain maps. As soon as you get on the deck where there is a flock of sheep, your FPS goes down the crapper.
I like Manx's suggestion that the sheep should be able to be turned off with the rest of the ground clutter.
-
yeah, all the maps, serious FPS hit when down in the cluttersheep.
been moaning about it ever since they'd became "forced" and no longer included in the ground clutter toggle.
trees i understand (and aren't too bad), but the sheep are real killers, ditto with the kind of pointless boulders on steep mountainsides where no GV will ever make it.
kill the cluttersheep!!

I can't say I've taken a noticable hit in frame rates, but when I'm flying low over the sheep tiles and the sheep are visible I start getting all kinds of static burst-type sounds from the speakers and my stick likes to go nuts, triggering the anti-stick stir code
-
Same thing happens to me with the sheep and I cant afford to lose any frame rate either:(
You are either on the bus, or off the bus

imho, i personally think that if the sheep are going to cost us something (in this case, frame rates), that they should be more active, and therefore, be worth the cost. i.e., they should be more interactive.
i think they should stand up and wave as we fly overhead...and if, if the circumstances dictate it, we have to ditch near a flock of sheep, that they should either A: run for their lives, knowing what's coming (for those players in west virginia, virginia, and kentucky (and any mid-european country for our friends overseas), or B: start saying "ddaaaaaaddddddddyyyyyyyy", for those from the areas mentioned above who were successful in their previous attempts to get to know the sheep better.

I think it was my 2nd mission in AH that I flew in Duncey's B-17 as his gunner when we got rammed by this P-51 that sheared off our tail and I couldn't bail out and had to ride what was left of the B-17 down to the deck. Lucky for me, there was a flock of sheep to break my fall and received a "You landed successfully" message.

open season on sheep.

Ive had the same problem with terrian certain terrain (probably sheep) hits my system almost as bad as flying the smoke of a severly porked base. trees don't seem to be a problem neither do beach obsticles. be nice two if we have a smoke slider limiting the number of smoke piles to say all to 1st newest and set smoke times like say defualt to 1 minute. Iam on a perty fast machine and In normal flight I get up to 80fps on this build (use to get over 100).
