Im not one to appoligize, BUT i must appoligize for lashing out last night in the MA, it was very un-called for.
I should have just logged, and thrashed my PC but i fealt it necessary to relieve my anger virtualy, and it was not effective.
You forum guys are very cool folks, i may talk trash to 90% of you but thats just my nature, dont take it personaly.. its all in good humor.
Im considering taking a nice long break from AH. All of you will cry your selves to sleep nightly thinking about the times of the past when i graced you with my presence, i know, it'll be OK..
Theres not going to be some long drawn out 2 page explination/whine as to why i dont find much intrest in AH anylonger, it truely is a great game in theroy and the community makes up a good portion of the fun, for the most part.
for constructional purposes what frustrates me more than anything is the one sided combat in the MA, all you see anymore is spitfires and LA7s, everywhere. Its getting rediculous.. Theres what 50 or so different planes? Those who chose to fly "less uber" planes are cornholed buy 5 spits and 3 La7s in nearly every conflict.
I'll probably be on a few more times before i close my account before the next billing cycle. Also i'll still be spamming up the forum because you guys keep me sane in this very dull, unstimulating work inviorment, nothing more fun than staring at a unix based server all day.
thanks for making learning flight sims these passed 5 or 6 months funs guys, truely was a enjoyable learning experience and has made me a AC nut. I knew nothing about WWII aviation, or aviation in general before playing this game.

Amon, I go through moments like that too.
Have you tried the Combat Theater yet? I've had lots of fun in there with the realistic plane sets... only drawback is the relativley low population so far, but I think it's going to become more popular very soon.

Been feeling similar lately, then I discovered the CT.
The MA sucks in comparison. Try it, you'll like it!
Ignor the low numbers in the CT, just log in and play, you will have a blast.

Or, join a squad Am0n. Flying with a squad adds a completely new flavor to air combat. You're no longer flying just for yourself, you're flying as part of a team. You've got buddies looking out for you and buddies to look out for.
Check out VF-27 Hellcats if you're interested in flying and surviving in one of the sim's unsung heroes, the F6F-5.

I played in the CT a while back, wasnt to bad but there is very low numbers and it always seems everyones at 25k+. Its been a while though so i cant really make accurate judgement. i'll give it a look
i fly for the nightmares, great bunch of guys. they are one of the things that keeps me flying. im a hellcat driver also Oboe, used to fly it as my "main ride", ive since changed that but i still fly it for low alt fighting (at or below 10k). normaly i can be found driving a p47.

go play a shooter game, you will see that, though most soldiers in reality carry a simple rifle or machine gun, everyone chooses the rockets or chain gun or whatever....
go play a role playing type game and if the wizard is more effective you will see 8000 wizards running around....if the elf is the best then 8000 elves etc etc...
whatever game you go to there will be someone camping on a spawn point waiting to zap you with their bfg because thats their idea of fun. its just the way online gaming is.
short story:
i once (in a 109) saw a giant b17 formation escorted by p51s. it was great!, i made slashing attacks and had to be careful setting it up....
the b17s stayed in a tight box just like they should dishing out loads of fire and the p51s were staying close to the buffs with one detached to chase me.
it was great until an la7 from 4.9 below fresh off an ekilling stall fight with a spit, somehow managed to not only climb the distance with me climbing at the same time BUT also kept enough speed to run me down at the top.
i felt like even the b17 and p51 guys felt cheated! they were into it too...i mean we were doing our thing historically and it was a close call as to whether they'd get me or i'd get a b17. a real challenge.
but thats my idea of a good time and we all have to share it with thousands of others. games are played by gamers and can get gamey :)
AH is like that too in some ways - people will go to the thing that gives them the most advantage. you just gotta find a way to get around them or above them or whatever and make the game fun for you. of course moving on is always an option too but you might have some mileage left ;)

"i fly for the nightmares, great bunch of guys."
Yes they are. How in the hell did you become one??

*j/k btw :)

You bring up a good point Mrfish, they will always do that in every game.
But in CS, i beta tested it for over a year, everyone uses m4a1 or awp(M) and i can kill those loosers with a sig p228 or Scout.. simply because i know how to "shoot and loot". A less experienced player wouldnt be able to do that. but since ive played doom, doom II, final doom, rise of the triad, witch haven, and thats just before "1996" i have plenty of exerience in 3d shooters.
Very much the same in AH, we got 7+ year veterns of flight sims flying nothing but the best rides and since i got about 6 months under my belt thats quiet a advantage for them.. anyone want to play a all AWP map with me in CS? :)
You know in CS, those really uber guns cost a lot of cash to ;)
I cant stand counter-strike anymore, that offer is purely hypothetical.
Anyhow i dont want to sound like a wheiner, im sure you get my drift.

Man, sorry but that's just not true. I think I count as one of those veterans... and I fly the Jug. I do pretty damn well in it too, and it's far from an uber-ride. Let me see, Drex flies the Jug, and lots of other stuff too, he's been around forever. There are lots of Pony drivers that are vets, but that's not really an "uber" plane in my book. Mathman's been around a while, and he's an F6F dweeb. Lets see, Cit's pretty uber and he flies the P-38... so does Tac and a bunch of others.
Who are all these old vets flying nothing but the "best" planes again? Oh yeah, and what are these "best" planes of which you speak? La7's? Spitballs? Sheesh, in the Jug your only real fear should be Yak drivers... those guys are scary. Just about anyone else you can deal with in one way or another.
The real deal is that everybody here is "good at flight sims", and games in general. You never "beat" this game, and you never master it, there is always somebody out there that can teach you a trick or two. You know what, that's why we old vets are still playing 7 years or more down the line. :) It's hard, but you eventually learn to relax and have fun, and wrestle the ego down so it doesn't wind you up. Even I get frustrated due to ego problems sometimes... then I just either take a break or realize I'm being silly and up again in my Jug. :) AH is more than a game, it's a never ending lesson not only in ACM, but in humility. :D

Sorry lephturn i miss-worded that intirely, didnt mean that in any way. I know MOST of the vets fly the less uber rides. I meant to only emply the threat a vet in a uber plane poses to a tin-horn in a mediocre AC, and there are some that do fly them (on both accounts lol) . :o
