Hey all,
It'd be nice if besides the usual options for weapon loadout there were options for historically accurate engine upgrades, airframe, sights (the mechanical LCOS on late model spits comes to mind), paddle props, etc.
Naturally these would be limited to what was historically available (no LCOS sights on your zero, sorry :p )
Still, upgraded WEP on some german planes, a full-power 'NiK2' (for a few perkies), paddle bladed early p-47s, late model spits with bubble canopies (perked), p-38s with Norden sights, etc.
Hell, you could even de-perk a few planes by giving them more 'real-world' performance. In reality, 262s were terribly tempermental. For a few perks less you could fly a 262 that suffers flameouts when power is reduced or applied too quickly.
This'd help shut up the whiners that say "well sure it's a great plane on paper, but in reality by the time it was released the war effort... blah blah blah". For a few perks less you get the 'real world' version, warts and all.
Hell, model two versions of the 163 this way. One that explodes at random and one that doesn't :)
I dunno, stuff like that.
