Think "6 people doing the work of 12" and "Priority list".

Aircraft rosters for countries need to be filled first.

Dont know what would be the real use of this other than justifying me to kill more chutes. I mean, the could walk around and kill an ack or something.

well, i dont know about killing ack but would be fuin for those times where you are in buff and a plane attacks you and both get shot down at the same time

Agreed! We brought this up back in beta days!

Just a question. I dont follow the realism stuff much. Were many planes shot down by handguns in WW2?

I shot a copperhead out in my back yard last year.(I have 2 grandbabys). I use a .45 cal apc. 200 grain JHP rounds with enough powder to move around 900 fps. I looked down and saw the spent round setting there on the ground. After it went through the snake, it just bounced off of the dirt.

Its hard to imagine anyway a .45 would bring down a plane.

For reference:

The energy or "power" of a 0.45 cal auto round of ammo is about half that of a NATO 5.56 mm round, which is about half that of a NATO 7.62mm round. The NATO 7.62mm is more powerful than the 0.303 cal of WWII. Added bonus for you 9mm fans: 9mm packs about half the power of a 0.45, it just uses a much smaller round to increase the velocity. Having extensive experience using both, I prefer and carry a 0.45 on daily basis, but also have a Beretta for show and tell (they are almost as pretty as a 0.45).

But, if you think a 0.45 won't hurt anything, buy one, walk out to your car and proceed to fire. The engine block will be unhurt, but it will punch a very large hole in just about anything else it hits. One round in the right place will shoot any plane down, however low the probability of finding that right place   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) I would only question the effective range. You can't hit still targets the size of a man much farther than 25 yards away with a government issue weapon (I have 8 years of struggling to fire goverment issue 0.45's in the Navy to back that up). My personal 0.45 is a completely different story   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

What always killed me was after you landed and ditched your chute, your armed with a M1 Carbine.

But it is not loaded.

Yeah, yeah....I know it is actually a Paratrooper graphic substitution untill a real pilot figurine was to be created.  I guess that work has been on the back burner for a LONG time now.

I wouldn't mind a pistol, though you might have players spawn, bail on the runway and guard a base to shoot paratroopers.  They do it now with bombers like the TBM and B-26.

Hans.

its simple.

Have the paras shoot back.

or have it to where it takes a few goons to take over a base.

Or even have it to where the paras have to be live people.

would add something AH doesnt have much of yet, its called "team play"

hehe.

The average distance between shooters during gunfights (with pistols) takes place at about 10 feet, and often times, both shooters miss each other (real life FBI statistic).  With that in consideration, it would be just short of a miricle for someone to shoot down a plane moving at 150 plus MPH with a .45 (or any pistol for that matter).  Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the .45!  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I Like the .45 almost as much as the .40 cal.  Pistol's just don't have the accuracy and power needed to reach up and kill a plane.

Sidearms where useless in WB and I cant see how they could offer more value in AH. i dont miss it at all.

I think its best left the way it is, there is enough controvosy over chute shooting as it is without it being rationalised because someone tried to land that golden BB. The only time it would be useful is if both planes in a collision  had to bail then I suppose you could plink at each other  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Someone mentioned a 'handheld Hispano' in a previous thread covering this same subject, that would put a spot on the ol front seat for sure eh Animal?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Giving us the ability to substitute real players for AI para's is something I'm quite sure we'll see in the future, the game is a meer 2 years young and look what we have already.

Patience.........

Well, in Beta, I asked HT not for a .45 but for a couple grenades and an assault rifle instead, that way, if I go down near enemy fields, I can still be a pain in the prettythang  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Remind me not to play catch with you Rip, if you can toss a grenade farther than ack can shoot you need to be in the majors  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
