I got a set of CH pedals for Christmas, (non-USB) and had to get a new, non-digital/non-USB stick to make them work.  Only prob was, new stick/pedal/throttle combo plugs in to game port, and mine is on a slightly older sound card.  Stick and pedal performance was spikey, requiring higher damper settings, and even then not as smooth as it should be.  Fortunately, I found Radio Shack part # 26-164, Gameport to USB Adapter.  It has a switch to choose Joystick A, Joystick B, Gamepad, or Wheel.  My entire controller combo now plugs in to USB, and all spikiness is gone.  The part was only $16, and is probably one of the best investments in my flight rig so far.  At least one of my squaddies heard me raving about it and got one, with the same great results.  If your controller gear plugs in to game port (joystick port) you might wanna check this out.

I'm using an old set of CH pedals and Ch combatstick.....6 years or so.  LOL  :)

I think I'll give this thing a try...can't hurt.

Tried the USB connection, and to my amazement, no spikes at all in AH or anything else.  Great suggestion!

This may solve my gameport problem.  It's worth $16 to find out.

All analog CH users should try this and retire the ol' Gamecard3 gameport.

What about programing the CH gear ?  How does this device change that?  Do you need USB drivers for the equipment ?

Programming shouldn't change for the CH stuff.  If the programming is uploaded to the stick/throttle combo, it should still work.  If it doesn't, just reconnect it the old way for reprogramming.  As far as USB drivers, all that is necessary is the driver for the adapter, which is already in Windows 98, simply listed as "USB interface" or something like that.  No installable drivers are needed for the adapter, but you will have to go in to "Gaming Devices" under Windows Control Panel and choose the "USB Adaptor" as the game controller.  All your settings should have remained the same, but I recommend you recalibrate the "new" device.  It's a pretty painless installation overall, and detailed instructions are included with the adapter.  Good luck!

I just checked maplin.co.uk

They do a Analogue to USB Gameport Convertor for 10 uk pounds order part number UA22Y. In this case it works out similar to cost of the Radio Shack item!

Thanks Scorp, I got the part a while ago, but it wouldn't work for me, because I didn't have a Pro Throttle. I had the crappy DOS CH Throttle, and I couldn't get it all to work. But I'd wanted to upgrade to the Pro-throttle for a few years now, so I did, and now everything kicks so much ass. Now if I can only find a "Daydream-to-S/A" Converter I'll be on top of things
