I love this kind of stuff.
I actually looked up the "extraterrestrial law". It was a federal statute affecting only astronauts and NASA employees. The purpose was to maintain a quarantine around the astronuats after their return to Earth. For those of you old enough to remember, the first few groups of astronauts were holed up in a trailer for IIRC 3 weeks after landing. Can't be too careful about those Moon bugs!
The statute was recinded in 1991 BTW.

Actually space law is VERY interesting and full of curiosities... such as "what to do if a crime is commited inside the International Space Station"... for example an European astronaut witnesses a crime commited by an american astronaut in the NASDA module while the station is over Russian territory...
Whose jurisdiction is it? :D
Plenty of curious hypothesis in space law, let me tell ya :)
I'll probably go to the Summer Session Program of the International Space University next year and I'd like to enroll in the Space Law section of the course, but I'll probably choose Space Bussiness and Management.
Interesting stuff in any case...

Why would that problem not be handled in the same way as a crime on an aircraft or on a ship over/in international waters?
= the law of the country where the ship is flagged (with some exeptions, some countries have claimed have jurisdiction over certain types of crimes even if they took place on another country's ship in international waters)
So the answer to your question would lie in the question -what country owns the NASDA module?

That sneeze one is not true. People have been using that phrase for centuries. Are you trying to tell me that people in the 6th century could determine a milisecond skip of a heartbeat?

The NASDA is the Japanese Space Agency, but if memory serves me right, I think it was the jurisdiction of the country from which the current commander of the station was... but I could be wrong.

EDIT: Just remembered that you are right indeed, the case I mention would be applicable if the crime was commited in one of the junctions or common areas.

I have heard that 'God bless you' was said because sneezing was supposed to be your soul attempting to flee your body, so saying 'God bless you' would keep it from getting away.
As Dr. Venkman would say... "Well that's what I heard!"
