Koba,
My only suggestion is to practice scissoring. It's the one maneuver that most planes can do competitively, and it requires quick thinking and a deft hand at the throttle.  If you can scissor well, you stand a good chance against an opponent in a similar aircraft.

Leo - I usually can scissor ok, but I hate that wing drop at low speed. Maybe rudder would counteract it, but at low alt., it's bloody lethal. I must have died a load of times due to that alone.
