Title: Thrustmaster ProPanel has jacked up my X36!
Post by: Kratzer on February 02, 2002, 12:40:44 PM
Am I doing something wrong?

I installed the TM ProPanel to calibrate my X36... It is now centered, which is great, but the throttle is completely jacked up.

According to ProPanel, the throttle has its full range of motion, and is smooth throughout, however, when I look at the properties for the joystick, and 'Test' them, the throttle advances smoothly for approximately the 30% of its range, at which point it slows way down as 50% of the range is reached, where it tops out at 50% until I reach about the last 5% of its range, where it jumps to about 75%, and will then, without being touched, jump back and forth between 75% and 60% or so.

All other axis work fine.

WTF is up with that?

Well... maybe I spoke too soon... sort of.

I uninstalled ProPanel, removed the stick from the Device Manager, and rebooted.  It found the stick, no problem.

Now, when I go into the properties for the stick, it goes all the way to 100%, but it jumps back and forth between 100% and 80% or so.

I'm guessing my throttle pot is either worn, or dirty... if this is the case, does anyone have a link to instructions for disassembling the throttle and cleaning it?

Thanks!

Now it goes smoothly... up to 50%, where it stops and stays.  WTF is going on?

dunno mate thrustpanel works fine for me

I've been using it for a year or so.........

You can use clearcal utility found on ron hunts page to erase windows calibration.

u will need to reinstall your sge though.

If fact my throttle would only get tp 98% in wb3 and il2 using clear cal it hits 100% smooth through..........

No pedals.

This is driving me nuts.  Now the throttle seems to be fine, and I can calibrate the rudder in ProPanel, but then when I go to test it, it doesn't eve LIST the whoopee rudder.

I've tried using the 'highly recommended' drivers from saitekhelp, and as far as I could tell, they just made everything about 10x worse - with lots of stick spiking, missing buttons, and at one point, removing my second hard drive from explorer.

I'm about ready to throw this whoopee thing through the window.

Wotan, you have saved my sanity.

I ran ClrCalib, rebooted, and it all looks good now...

I wish I'd known to look for that 4 hours ago.

1st born will be sent right over.

Thanks!

Thanks Wotan
I have the thrustmaster utility and have used it for my CH Fighterstick and pro-throttle. I like it better than the windoze calibration routine. It sounds as if the Clearcal utility will be useful also.
