Title: Like opening a Big Christmas Present and Getting Socks
Post by: muckmaw on February 08, 2002, 09:54:36 AM
Seeing the BB News from Pyro this morning, feeling in my bones it was the announcement of 1.09, and getting a terrain editor patch!

Geeez, What an update tease.

That hurt.

Guys, 1.09 is still a long way away.  You'll know when we're near.

High fidelity air combat is the heart of Aces High, but it doesn't end there.  In addition to flying a multitude of aircraft types, players can also man vehicles, boats, amphibs, gun batteries,
and ships.  It's the most diverse virtual arsenal available to players in this genre and it's constantly growing through frequent updates.

It's been awhile
Since I could
Download a new plane
And it's been a while
Since I could fly one.

Its been 4 months since 1.08 was released.  If we really are not even close to 1.09, would you consider putting the planes that are ready to go in an auto updater patch?    Even if it's just the Ki.67, it would help the wait.

Jeez, Tumor, you'd think you'd totally forgotten how things were in AW (forgive me if I'm mis-identifying you.)

If you've never played AW, you have no idea how good we have it here.  I loved AW, but I love AH more, and one of the things I really appreciate is that the folks at HTC are devoted to their craft.

Trust in that devotion, and let them do their work at their pace.  Whatever comes will be worth the wait.

pbirmingham is right, HTC do seem to get it right with each new update. They havent dissapointed anyone yet with them.(er apart from maybe Ram ;))

BUT they seem to introduce 3 or 4 planes each update and I think if the next update is expected to take a long time to introduce it could be very good for the game if half way to the next update we get a new aircraft or new set of historical weapon loadouts.Just to keep the customers happy.

I for one would love to see a sort of prize introduction or mini update when the excitement of the most recentr update is wearing thin. :)

I agree with Hazed. Look at the game motor city online. It updates every month. About every three months it gets a large update like a new track or somthing. It keeps the hounds at bay and does it very well.

Motor City Online?  That might actually be an excellent example.  I have only read about it, and it sounded like it had great potential.  Unfortunately, the latest magazine review I read (within the past couple of weeks) stated that it was a great idea that had been very poorly executed, and the writer only hoped it would some day live up to its potential.  Has it been quite a while since the last AH update?  Yup.   Will the next one probably live up to the excellent standard we have all become accustomed (read "spoiled") to?  Yup.  If things are rushed, do they usually turn out crappy?  Yup.  Pretty much settles it for me.  I would love to try out new aircraft and features, and look forward to the time when they arrive.  Until then, I'm still finding new ways to use the ones we have, and re-trying ones I haven't used in a while.  It's still fun for me! :D
