Title: Northwest guys... you notice all these "minicons"?
Post by: AKDejaVu on February 13, 2002, 12:17:33 AM
About time for one of our own.  Rip... SOB... Capt. Apathy... its time we stop getting shown up by those with much better weather and less green pastures.

What do you say?  Get our own together?  Seattle or Portland?  Its a roadtrip for someone... but hell... SOB has a Tahoe and Rip has an Explorer.   We should be able to work something out.

We do have the Boeing museum and the 262 project here in Seattle.

Could be fun.

We also have the Evergreen Air Museum (Spruce Goose) and the Tillamook Air Museum down here.  They are also good possibilities.

I'd love to head to Portland for the Evergreen and Spruce goose, haven't seen either of those yet.

The only time I have "booked" this spring is the last two weeks in May.

Other than that, I'm open!

I think Weave may be interested too?

Emailing him now.

Name a date, place to meet.  Would one day cover the events of both museums plus lunch? Lets do it!

I'm in...got family coming into town on March 16-23, but other than that I'm good.  Can fit 5 guys in the Tahoe, tho' suprisingly it's a little cramped in the back.

Milstinko?  Paint?  Brady?

Bellingham here. I'd trust my car as far as Seattle, but that's about it ('83 Honda wagon)...

I'm up for it in either location. Portland is a mere 4hr drive, maybe us around Seattle can get together and car pool? :D

Thanks for the e-mail Rip!

Portland is closer for me, but I got family in Puyallup, So Seattle is fine too.

As long as SOB don't bring his "trouser trout" and DJV doesn't try to put his hand on my knee, then I'm there.

I got April 24th slated as my vacation if that helps with a date.

Looks like Weave, Ripsnort and Geman(my son) are car pooling, I have room for one more, but I suspect Weave might bring a friend?

For those in the Seattle area - VMF-214 Blacksheep is holding their reunion at the Museum of Flight on Boeing Field from May 24th to the 27th (Memorial Day weekend).  Boeing field is a 10 minute drive from both Seattle and SEATAC International airport.  I know of several people that are traveling here just to attend this event.  They would probably join an AH mini con event held at the same time.

Prior to that, the Cascades Warbirds Squadron (http://www.warbird.org/cascade/) is holding a fly-in event at the Museum of Flight on April 20th.  http://www.museumofflight.org/visit/calendar/index.html?DisplayMonth=2002-04  These are REAL warbird pilots and planes, not gamers.  Expect lots of WW2 trainers, fighters and possibly some heavy iron.

If a mini con is held prior to either of those dates in the Seattle area, we'd probably scare up several ex-AW'ers.  Many have recently migrated to Aces High (as you all know .:p ).

Both Seattle and Portland sound good.  They are both a short drive for me.

If I have the day off I'll be there.

I told you that the "hand on the knee" thing was an accident.  I was really drunk and thought you were Animal.

So... let's talk about a date here.. then decide on Seattle or Portland.

In regards to a date... my thoughts is this should be on a Saturday... because I have that day off.  Other than that.. I can make any date decided on.

Well, I work Saturdays, but I'm off Sundays.  There's a possibility I could get off, but no guarantees.  Stupid criminals don't understand the concept of weekends.

Anyone up for a Sunday, or do some of you do the church thing?

Looks like "Invasion Sicily" is running the 16th and 23rd so both those dates are out, the 30th doesn't work for many....  I have a automotive tech session on April 6th, so that weekend is out for me, how does April 13th work for everyone?
