Why bring it up? It's very rewarding to log into a new tour, and see the same guys fighting for the same country, without leaving..that's all! Its even more rewarding getting to fly with those who you had once considered your foe. At one time, I thought I would never leave Bish but left to try out another country after getting frustrated with my countrymen. Lo and behold, I found those Rooks who had been chasing me all around to be great guys. And ya know what? The friends I made while in Bishland (you all know who you are (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)) were still my friends in Rookland.
I think you miss out on getting to know lots of great guys if you fly for one country only.

Edit: And one doesn't have to rotate to enjoy the friends from other country's...I've met plenty in SEA, Special events, Check Six events, etc. etc. as well as just chatting on open channel!

I can't argue with that, however, to those who rotate to another country, then give me grief on channel 1, don't expect me to kiss your arse and follow your every whim when you rotate back.
-
Why bring it up? It's very rewarding to log into a new tour, and see the same guys fighting for the same country, without leaving..that's all!
Rip, in order to pay this compliment, you infer that there is something that rubs you the wrong way about those that do leave. Therein lies the insult.
Don't have a problem with you feeling one way or the other about it.. just don't throw out this subject and try to come off politically correct at the same time. You felt the need to come here and pay the compliment, amidst the "side changing" threads that have been prevelant lately. You are, wether you admit it or not, expressing an oppinion on it.

I fly as a Knight. Will stay a Knight because I don’t see any real reason to change sides. My former FA squad now AH squad “GUNZZ” I believe will stay with the Knights. I did have a few days in the middle of Tour 12 as a Rook. Formatted my computer and it logged me in afterward as a new Rook, took me a few to figure how to change back.
It’s a good argument to change sides to fly with new people. I prefer the other argument though. I like adversarial match ups. Going through my head as, “so-and-so downed me a few times, let me see if I can return the favor”. I never bare any ill feelings towards anyone, I just find it more challenging. Don’t really know why, just me I guess.
So far I now have two on my "list" (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Hangtime and Zigrat… Each of these pilots have handed my arse to me enough times for me to notice it. It will thrill me to know end to finally see one or both of them go down under my GUNZZ. From the posts and things I’ve seen, both good people. Would much rather fly against them then with (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif).

Well sometimes it works both ways. Sometimes we rotate from a side that can't organized a trip to the toejamter and are getting their butts kicked to a side that is kicking ass. Thats nice sometimes.
Sometimes we go from a highly successful side back to a side that can't find their bellybutton with a map and a compass. Thats less nice most times.
Either ways, it keeps things interesting. Sometimes its fun to work with those you've worked agianst. Next time I go up against them I know a little more about how they think (or don't think (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)).
It all evens out in the end.

Ah yes. just to highlight.. a thread that does not salute people for doing a certain thing... it salutes people "that do not rotate tours"... not that there's anything wrong with it. Hmmmmm I flew Gold in WB's the whole four years that I flew WB's. I decided along with the rest or my squad that we didnt want to get stuck in that rut again. We wanted to move around and meet as many guys as we could in all the diffrent countries. We vote all the time and wether or not to stay in a certian country but we always vote to move on. If you like to go with country nationalism go for it. i did it for four years in brandX and I feel like I missed out on alot of fun by doing so. Flew Gold in Warbirds; refused to rotate. 4 years. (htm- hngtme) Been a Bish since my first night here.
I know most of the folks that fly for Bishland; or have in the past, I like 'em all. Good pilots; good people. Even Creamo. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I'm proud to be a Bish; these guys are brothers-in-arms, we suffer it all together, good times and bad. I've seen them band together and fight like inspired warriors.. and I've seen 'em check their brains at the door and do the dummest stuff ever concieved on a flat screen... I've laffed at 'em; with 'em; hollered and screamed; they've put up with me and done their damndest despite the odds and my meddeling and continue to be... 'working independently, toward a mutual goal' ..BISH. My people, my nation. <S!>
God bless every damn one of 'em.
As for the resta you low life rooks and knights.. I've had the privledge to have flown with and aginst most of the guys in here; in one capacity or another; Scenarios; TA, SEA, etc. There's a precious few I've met that I have less than warm fuzzies for.. but even then the animosity stops when I see the chute. Usually. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
As for rotating squads..
I was the guy that hollered first and loudest about individuals following the vulch and side swapping; and claim responsibility for the initial 24 hour lock-down on side switching. Had a converstion w/ HiTech on line about this and squad hi-lights.. next day we had both.
I enjoy having 'guest squads' come to bishland. I especialy look forward to having the AK's come to Bishland; they work hard on their objectives; understand mutual support, can carry a tune on RW and have a damn good time. I have no objections to rotataing squads.. but I wasn't always so inclined. The AK's changed my mind.. last time they came to Bishland they did an honest good job for the country; and left any baggage they had behind when they came.
Likewise; we had the Buccanners over for tour; they too did damn fine work and I for one hope they come back soon; thats another quality group, they know the drill and showed us some stuff..
Tho the 'squad rotation' thing tends to rub some the wrong way; I think we oughta step back a bit and take a closer look at some of them. They seem to know more about 'nationalism' than some of the folks that have been in one country from the git-go.
There's room for both... I don't feel 'cheated' by staying in Bishland, and often; we become richer when a competent guest squad shows up to help us for awile. Even if it's only for a night, it can be a heluva lotta fun.. <S!> PFT!
In any case; to each squad that rotates.. thanks for helping when yah come to Bishland. When yah leave, yah sorry bums; I hope yer guns jam; but It was nice having yah, just the same. Should yah ever decide to settle down; hope ya bring it back to Bishland... I look forward to flying WITH you more than AGAINST yah. <S!>

I joined tonight and Fatty and the tard patrol were all Rooks. Against common sense, I joined them.
Oh well, I shot down Nash (he was 3 sheets to the wind a posting jokes and getting kilt by me, do the math) and then went to hit Knits.
I saw 3 green messages the entire 14 kill run I did (no deaths, Rook bug?) I peppered Mass with 109 MG's just to get a assist, was fun as hell though.
I did indeed missed the fun BiShits the whole time.
I think the Rooks take the rivalry serious, cuz they offered no chat or fun.
BiShits are good folk, counting down the 12 hours.
-
I can understand why some people do not like rotating squadrons that much. Especially if a large squadron rotates they are quite likely always flying for the largest country and leaving their earlier country in trouble. On the other hand that gives some variation and fresh changes to those who do not rotate... sometimes they are numerous and sometimes not.
Another thing is that when one flies for one country for a long time, they get some loyal friends and some "bitter enemies". Such may be quite ok if things stay the same, but when one finally changes country himself or those "enemies" join one's country, co-op may not ever happen in a good spirit.
My squadron decided to switch from Rooks to Knoghts recently. All my AH career I had flown for Rooks and had learned to be annoyed of certain Bishes and Knits.... LOL... now I am a Knight... At first I found it very weird to shoot down Rooks and tried to stay on the Bish front. It is hard to shoot down someone who has fought a lot on your wing earlier. I almost feel ashamed in such situation and a big <S!> is the least I can do. For some reason the Rook front just has been in need of defence lately and I have ended up fighting Rooks almost all the time. My respect is still high for them though just like my respect on Knight is growing... heh now I am only annoyed of the Bishes... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
To summarize... I understand both views. Pilots or squadron who rotate constantly are easily viewed like mercenaries.... maybe respected for their skills but not trusted very much. It is their choise though and maybe they should also consider it from other's point of view and not get sensitive about it.
I am sad that I left my Rook friends, but if they now frown me I just gotta live with it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) ...and learn to find new wingmen in Knits. And I dont expect such to happen instantly.

Our squad stays bish, when times were lean we took the pounding, now that numbers are up we're enjoying it <G>
by the way sturmjaeger squad has changed its' name to flying circus.....seems we gave the wrong impression as only a few of us in the squad were dedicated LW pilots. the crew flies a variety of aircraft now, except for me of course <G>
