Title: My dogs are going on trial...
Post by: AKDejaVu on February 13, 2002, 08:48:28 AM
I have 3 dogs.  They remind me of their presence whenever a jogger goes by, someone walks up to their own house or a delivery van is within 4 blocks.  They are barkers.

These mutts that are quite proud of their vocal cords layed at the foot of my bed last night while theives broke into my Acura and rolled it away.  Not a peep from any of them.

Now they are sitting here looking kinda nervous... awaiting my decision.

call me a hick but dogs belong out side just for that reason.

that really sucks about your car. sadly thieves target hondas (acuras) because they are so easy to start with out key. Takes less than a minute, your dogs didnt here a thing.

Am0n's right about how easy it is to start a Honda or Acura. When I bought my Prelude (1986, sweet car) I made sure I knew where all the wiring and electrics were, so I could do maintenace on it if I had to.

Thus, I knew where the starter and ignition wires were, you know...the classic red/blue setup. Anyways, my girlfriend likes to take my keys to stop me from leaving. It's not a bad thing, a joke more like, but you should have seen here when I walked out to my car, got under the dash, and hot-wired it quickly.

It isn't hard to steal Honda and Acuras, just need to make sure that you get better security...or an American car...I can never figure out wiring on any American car...

All car thieves must die.  I only had my POS '84 Mazda B2000 broke into and a couple of things stolen when I lived in Portland and that's how I felt.  I can't even imagine.  I'll pray for Jebus to grant you 5 minutes and a tire iron with the theif or theives who made off with your car.

Thats actualy the hard way. The easiest, most used method is to pop the key ignition off the stearing colum with a flat head (to damn easlily i might add)and flip the switch that turns the ignotion with the screw driver . Its discutingly easy to do, theres even a small button in there to unlock the wheels.

So sad that its easier to steal the whole car compared to the stereo or anything else a thief would want

Thanks 1776.. this really made my day.  So did this:

A little more mellow... a little more reliable... better handling and nice options.  Plus a 4 year 60,000 mile waranty.  Things didn't turn out so bad.

Though.. I still have to deal with the insurance adjusters.  I get the feeling I'm about to find out who the real criminals are.

that sucks.

i had my 240z stolen once and my 280z stolen twice back in the early 90's and late 80's.

they  were both 70's model z cars and pretty much any key would open the doors and start the ignition.

i used my friend's amc gremlin key and it worked, my friend's toyota truck key also did the trick - theives knew this.

good luck.
:(

the sad thing is that in this town if they actually catch the theif driving your car, he'll just get a ticket for unauthorised use and he'll walk away while they tow the car

This happened to me in 2000.  I go to Jiffy Lube, get the oil changed.  They pull it out of the stall, and I go inside to pay.  I come out-no truck.

"Dude, where's my truck?", I say.  After a  few minutes of discussion, we determine that a young girl that just filled out a job application got in it and drove off.  I called the number she put on her job application and probed her Mom for info.  She used her real name and address, and it still took them a week to get my truck back, dirty, with all my stuff gone, but otherwise fine(the bastids DID use my ashtray, that pissed me off).  Had to fight JL pretty hard to get them to replace all my stuff, too.  Bet they don't leave the motor running or the keys in the ignition anymore, though.

p.s.  Only Indians let dogs sleep in their house(That is what my grandma used to tell us).

I used to have an ol Honda Civic(1976). All Civic keys seemed to open all other civics from that era. Back when I was studying I remember walking out into the car park then unlocking my car and getting in. I dont remember the exact thing that twigged me, but I think it was some girly sticker on the window that I didnt have on my car.... Its wasn't my bloody car!

Needless to say I leapt out, looked around to make sure no one was looking then stole all her stuff and snapped the steering wheel off. Wait, no I didnt. I locked it again and walked very quickly to my car.

I am a runner and dogs=my enemy.  I am an animal person, however when I am running its a different story.  Running triggers some kind of instinct in animals.

You guys confuse me - you don't have alarms/immobilizers in the States or something? I used to have a 1992 Prelude (sweeeeeeet... sigh... still miss her) - press a button, it locks the doors and kills the engine dead untill I press the button again. No matter what wires you can get to from under the dashboard - it wouldn't start even with the key! Simple really...

Ask Rip he'll tell you where to get the most secure car in the world;) Out of many tests/cars BMW was the only one that professionals couldn't start at all without it's immobilizer disabled:p

(Deja - sorry for your loss. Watch your insurance premiums balooning next year:()
