Title: Whine of the Week...ME! check inside to see why
Post by: Sky Viper on October 28, 2001, 09:34:00 PM
HOW Fuggin lame of the Knights to MASS attack the lowest numbers EVERY time.

It doesn't matter whether it's Rooks or Bishops, the Knights ALWAYS hit the team with the least numbers.

To hard for ya to win against anything close to even numbers?

At one point tonight, the numbers were 70+ Bishops, 90+ Knights and Less than 60 Rooks.

And the cake:  It took 30 Knights 2 hours to take A16 from 4 Rooks!!!
What happened, the extra accounts guys not show up?

LMAO!!!

BTW, you can keep Morkelab!  We don't need no stinking traitors.  :)

hmm im a knight and one proud one at that. seems to me we NEVER look at who has more players. we look at what bases look odd in the knight standerd veiw. lets say a base is in the middle of 2 friendly bases. and its hard for just spawning and deing over agian and so on.... so we get a mission and we take it. if it works we keep going. weakest players i think are the rooks (no offence but yall arent doin to well) we got the last reset on us cus rooks and bish hit us hard with mass raids as u say. what is that? we had so less guys and u hit us? hmm. AND if we are ahead of the bish when the rooks are about to reset why do u attack the rooks? attack the knights and take are bases and u gain one and we lose one. then when ur above us in bases attack rooks. but noooo u still attack rooks and help us do the reset. MISSIONS help out. u cant take a base so easly with a die and respawn stragy. u need lots of team work. missions is how we get all the squadys and loners to join up and take a base fast and easly i suggjest rooks and bish do it more. and if ur base ever just gets bombed by 5-10 lancs at one time)thats me)

WAAAA...just depends on what time of day you're on. We get our share of time in the bucket too. I'm usually on between 12am-6am EST and the Nits are consistently outnumbered and getting hammered from both sides. Everyone gets their turn in the bucket, it's the nature of the beast.

Well, I haven't see any late night odds like I am speaking of.
I have stayed up late as hell some nights, just to avoid the 4/1 gang bangs and get a fair fight.  Not once in these late adventures have I seen 2/1 or worse odds.

Do you mean Morkeleb?

I highly doubt my squadmate and wingman defected to the llamas. He may complain and says "im tired of Rooks" but for good reason.

Scenerio: Bishops 35 bases, Nits 2, Rooks 32.
All rooks are attacking knights.
Aamon:"Rooks stop attacking Knights and hit Bishops"
LamerRookSpokeman:"But i dont like this map"

lol

no one ever said another word, beside a few other smart rooks who had the same concern that i had.

We just seem to have all the tools on our side. I dunno how it got like this, i think the knights and bishops sent us all there short buss'ers  :D

Yes, I mean Morkeleb.
And yes, he did defect.
Ask him, he will tell you I called him a traitor.  ;)
Check his stats...6 kills, 8 deaths as a knight.  ;)

I don't blame him for doing it though.  It gets VERY frustrating to be so overwhelmingly outnumbered day after day.

I agree sky viper, i dont much blame him either. But still a shocker to me.  :(

I can understand why Mork got fed up with Rooks.

I've been a damn rook for almost my entire time in AH except for a short stint in knitland.

The rooks of old seemed to cooperate thousands of times better then the ones now.

When at the con, the FDBs forced me to fly bish. During my 6 hour period of confinment, I saw the same teamwork I used to see on the rook side.  :(

Lowest point of rookdom was weeks ago when the bishes were down to their large island base and the small coastal one across from it on the STFA map.

While the knits rolled across the north, sweeping out the rooks, the 4 or 5 generals in the south argued over what base to take.

Eventually, they convinced all to try to take the large island base in a last ditch effort. As soon as all the rooks left the small coastal one, the bishes proceeded to take back the depot next door, which had been protected by the large furball there.

 :(

needless to say, knits won the reset and many rooks logged off in disgust. such a low point.

I've flown Bish, Knit and Rook at one point or another in AH.  All have equal strengths and weaknesses, at one point or another.

I might add, in war, its natural to take the path of least resistance.  Until you change the fundumentals of the human soul....get used to it.

Moose i was there for that scenerio. We rooks had the most bases buy 8 and in a matter of 30 minutes we lost 9-10 of them because no one would assist up north.

It seems to be the trend on that horrid map, and with the Rooks.

It's trivial to imagine what if a Knit-bish drops a little of their magic wisdom on Rookland....   (http://www.freakygamers.com/smilies/s/contrib/edoom/Wizard.gif)

Go Rooks!   :D

Hmm...I think you missed something Rip.

In war, the cowards and losers attack the weak spot of an opponent in an effort to become strong. They generaly fail.
Like Pearl Harbour, BoB, and the World Trade Center.

On the other hand, the smart warrior attacks an opponents strengths leaving him weak and helpless.
Like WW2 Allied forces shuting down Factories and Supply Chains, and Governmental centers.

Attacking the weak may win the battle, but it wont win the war.

Considering I've flown every country atleast 4 times, I *COULD* offer my insights...

But there are some out there who insist each country is different or behaves differently.

Only difference I notice are the names.

Swulfe

i disagree bud i flew for bishops when i first started in AH (2 months ago) and i gotta say we were always whooping on the Rooks, we outnumbered them and it was quiet fun.

At any given time you can pull up the Rooster and see that the rooks are out numbered sometimes 2:1.

I should clarify, especially for those who have been here for a very short time..

I have flown all countries atleast 4 times for 30 days at a time.

You may disagree, but I am so very right.

The numbers game goes back 'n forth, the squeaking goes back 'n forth, the team getting beat up goes back 'n forth...

It's never a permanent thing, I guess that's why it's such a dynamic world...

SW & Rip are right. I've been here since the start of AH. I flew knights for most of the time until about 4 or 5 months ago. Knights seemingly stayed with low numbers. I come to rooks now we have the low numbers.

Wait a minute. Someone trying to tell me something?

I have seen you fellers getting pounded on.  Tried my best to stay out of it.

194 Kills of Bishops so far this tour.
40 Kills of Rooks.

Just before you all started getting banged in SFMA the knights did get reset.

The Bishops have 37356 kills and have been killed 40580 times against the Knights.

The Rooks have 39208 kills and have been killed 38910 times against the Knights.

The Bishops have 25405 kills and have been killed 29354 times against the Rooks.

Heya zip.

I will say, regardless of the numbers, I still prefer fighting the knights. It just seems to me that the fights are more intense, there is a variety of aircraft and they are under 30K (just kidding bish  :))

No Am0n, this post was referring to last night. I was online when Viper began his squeaking. It started with someone, then moved onto him squeaking about the whole country.

Yes, there were Knights fighting the Rooks last night.

Then again, about 1/3 of our forces were up North fighting the Bishops.

So there were about 90 Knights, 70Rooks and 80 Bishops- give or take about 7 people for each...

1/3 of 90 is what? Okay then, the fights weren't so outnumbering that the rooks couldn't fight back- but they were taking off from CAPed bases and refused to take off from the rear.

I could go on and on, but the fact that every 3 or 4 months the Rooks come to this message board and begin to moan about being targetted is nothing new... Before it was about being gang banged by both countries (all countries were being gang banged though)... now it's about being gang banged by a country who has more numbers on the roster but at that front, they were roughly the same.

Grab the whole picture, put the pieces together and size up the situation- don't get all juvenile and squeak with unfounded accusations.

I switched sides because I wanted to see what it's like to fly for a different country, and with a different group of people.  I will admit that I was motivated to do so by my belief that overall, cooperation on the rook side has been very difficult to obtain lately.  Rooks have also been outnumbered a great deal of the time that I am on to play.  SO much so, that playing Aces High was becoming very anti-fun for me.  I went knights instead of bishops because I knew more people on knights than I did bishops, and I thought it might be fun to try flying with them for a while.  I've only been in AH about a month and a half, and there is a great deal I have to learn, and a lot of people I'd like to meet and fly with.  I had been thinking about switching for quite a while, and only did so when it became clear that I could not convince my squadmates to try another country for a while.  Thus, I felt it most appropriate to resign while I am not on the same team as they are.  I hope that my former countrymen don't harbor too much ill will.  It is, after all, only a game.

Mork, I understand where you are coming from, but if memory serves, you got pissed at Yams for chasing you & shooting you down instead of doing what you thought he should have done. I believe you stated that there were more fights at the base and that he should have gone there instead of coming after you. You don't think thats gonna happen over there? Hate to tell ya but I'll chase you too.
Title: Whine of the Week...ME! check inside to see why
Post by: Mork on October 30, 2001, 09:20:00 AM
I was never upset at Yams.  I asked him why he did what he did because I didn't understand it.  Personally, when I see an aircraft leaving a fight, I usually let them go and stay around to help my teammates.  I also don't engage someone that already has more than 2-3 people on his 6 (something else I see others doing, and I can't figure out why.  Killshooter anyone?).  For me, it is boring to chase a single plane around for 20 minutes.  Killshooter isn't much fun for me either, which is why you won't see me engaging those guys that are already dragging 4+ people.  It's a game, and everyone is entitled to play the way they want to.  I was merely trying to understand why he did what he did.

Mork, its your money, play the game however you like.  I float around the countries from time to time, as I think all should.  You meet new people, and best of all you find that all the countries are the same, just with different player names.

Mork,
Don't get me wrong. As SW stated and rightly so, it's your money, fly where you want, but don't fall for the misconception that other countries are any different than the 1 you just left. The numbers will vary. Rest assured, the knights will have their "turn in the bucket" again. It wasn't but just 4 or 5 months ago, if that long, that the knights underwent an extended term with low numbers. The Damned, a large squad,  recognized this and switched to knight, which I salute them for.

As a matter of fact, the numbers are about to change in a few days due to the new tour and the rotating squads.

<S> Hope you have fun. But I'm still gonna chase ya. Won't be 20 minutes either.  :D.

Apache,
Once again, my decision to switch was not based that heavily on numbers.  Certainly it was a factor, but primarily I wanted to see for myself what the other countries are like.  I have no idea what it will be like flying Knights.  It might be better than it was, it might be worse.  I won't know until I have spent some time there.

Several of people that have spent time helping me learn the game in the Training Arena fly for the knights (or are in a squad that rotates).  I don't really know any bishop pilots yet, so I went knights to get a chance to fly with some of the ones I do know.

Incidentally, I've been pretty much staying away from the Rook front, but I'll make sure to let you know if I head that way so you can come shoot my plane down.

See you in the MA!
