Sportsmanship and "friendly banter" are some the things that make CT so appealing to me. I have been the recipient of several chivalrous acts such as being allowed to RTB in a plane with no ammo even though I could have easily been killed. Last night I was fighting several allies over A20 and we had a number of great fights. After one engagement, I did a turning dive to gain some speed and caught sight of a spit emerging from the smoke and and racing down the runway at A20. Thinking it was "upping" to join the fight (in which I was already out numbered) and opened fire immediately as i was about d600 and closing. Right after i thumbed the canons, I realized he was bumping to a stop. I broke off but was too late the first burst hit him hard and he exploded immediately. My appologies to AKMork whom I have always found to be sterling adversary. I do not intentionally shoot down helpless planes. AKMork was a complete gentleman about the event. But my consious is still bothering me, so I ofter this appology.

Don't sweat it Phantom, anybody that's flown with you at all knows you're a good sport. Glad to see you in the CT.

Yup..Phantom and I had a great low dogfight. He was in a 109 and I was in a P-51b. The two of us found some clean air and it was just the two of us.
I was scanning the skies beggin for a friendly plane to help me out as the fight see-sawed. Unfotunately it ended up with Phantom going down after a collision. It was one of those things where you are both doing scissors and trying to get the upper hand. I did not open up as he crossed my path at the last second...when I turned to check my 66666 he was spiraling in.
Waiting for the flamefest whining to occur I type a message on Ch1 to him. He understood and knew that it was not intentional. We traded and carried on.

Had an outrageous scissor fight at very low speeds with him last night.. I got 6 shot opportunities and he held that damn thing JUST outta reach, and eventually he crushed my pony on a snap shot.
I've been gettin some GREAT fights in the CT lately.. and unfortunately, in my quest for fields in France and local air superiority I have vultched rather mercillessly.. my apologies for those... but when I gotta cap a runway, it stays inactive; one way or the other. :)
All... I've been havin a blast.

An FDB apologizing for vulching? Son, I'm afraid this is going to have to go on your permanent record.
With that out of the way... to everyone invovled in the CT, it's become my favorite part of AH.

Less of course your busy mowing the grass with the the prop of the D-Hog:D ... I also had a lot of haf sheared sheep following my M16 around:p

FDBs need to work on terminology.
1. It's never called vulchin', it's called Field Suppression (or clubbin' baby seals)
2. It's never called running away, it's called Extending (all the way back to base)
3. It's never called Porking a field, it's called Opportunity (or backstabbin' the enemy)
4. It's never called Fear of bellybutton whuppin' at the CON, it's called Good Sportsmanship.

I'll add to milenko's list:
5. It's never called Cherry Picking, its called Superior Combat Situational Awareness (vs. those cons who'se SA are taxed by the 3+ cons on their 6)
6. It's never called Gaming the Game, its called Working with the Code (even if it means breaking the laws of physics)
7. It's never called Stick Stirring, its called a Pilot Induced Hallucination (and no one can prove it happened!!!)
8. It's never called Spray & Pray, its called Psychological Warfare (they scream as they spin & burn)
9. It's never called TURBOLASER, its called Standoff Defense Mechanism (stand off or it will blast you outta the sky).
10. It's never called Spying, its called 1-800-CLEO (and the thought police will FLAME you!)
11. It's never called AI ACK, its called Big-Brother-on-PMS (PING!)

If we were into politically correct terminology and euphemisms, we would be the gravitationally challenged, ethanol impaired, offspring of casual relationships.

Why would you do those things eskimo?
-
Because it's war! (And just a game)
Kill! Kill! Kill!
I would be disapointed if someone didn't do the same to me.

Was and especially rude and nasty lot in CT last night. I flew one plane, rtb'd then cheerfully returned to the main arena. Was very dissapointed :(

hmmm....I thought last couple nights have been great....crowds in the 40's. Good mix of activity with 1 vs 1 and some furballs. More vulching and a wee bit of gangbanging but thats normal. I changed sides since the numbers got a bit skewed. Sorry you had a bad time...to me the CT is the place to be.
-
No, you expressed your disappointment with the numbers being so lopsided, and you wouldn't stop, you repeated your vocal banter how you didn't like the CT. I thought everyone was really polite and most ignored you. You wouldn't stop and a few told you if you didn't like the CT, then simply click on MA if it wasn't your cup of tea. Frankly, I was getting annoyed with your constant complaining also. Your quote you " cheerfully" returned to the MA, Is far from the truth.
Hey, if you don't like that arena, it is really simple to enter the MA. Last night was the first Imbalance of sides I've ever seen in the MA. But it's still no reason to tell the 76 other players they can't be having fun.
The CT arena is a different twist, it's not for all and constanly changes, so stop back again and give it another try.

You flying AH CT?
Heck, It's alot of WB HA folks from years back.
Damn, all we need is that exiled curmudgeon and well-meaning critic....Stiglr  Heck, he was a master of clean, non-personnel taunts.
BTW: to HB and Tac. Fun fights last night....look out next time! :p

The title of this thread was sportmanship. I logged on out of curiousity numbers were 30 to 20 something, I went to the lwoer number side. By the time I landed that one plane, (I was only there one flight) the numbers were 50 to 20, and yeah I was pissed. If you'd had people type stuff that was typed to me I bet you would be too. Thats all I am going to say about it, but I do appologize for losing my temper.
CT brand of sportsmanship isn't for me - I'm just not used to being treated that way. Nobody should be.

"I'm just not used to being treated that way. Nobody should be."
You're absolutely right. I was there during that time and the remarks aimed at you right off the bat, after you intitially expressed your valid opinion on several aspects of the CT, were most definately unwarranted.
It's what I would expect to see had Lazs came in to the CT and said his usual about it on the common channel. That was not the tone of your comments and the responses you got back from a few players, IMO, were jeuvinile and pathetic.

Hey WBHoncho,
I apologize for my off the cuff remarks to your post.
I wasn’t in your shoes and I wasn’t there to see it.
I’m aware that some of the razzing that I may encounter is the friendly sort of stuff from folks I know.
However, I feel the new folks to the MA, CT and TA should always feel welcomed and treated with respect.
If you ever want to fly in this area again, give me a shout, I'll fly your wing.
Please note: Flying with me almost always means death. ;)
