For all of you _vocal_ strategist types that like to play General in MA, I offer this little piece of advice so it might help you generate some support for your cause of the moment...and as a result shut up on ch2 :).
Speak through missions, not the country channel.
Every night its the same thing. There's a small group (every country has them I'm sure) that constantly barks over ch2 about where folks should fight, and why, and how those that don't are all idiots. The rant is endless. Now I realize you see some grand strategy at work here, right or wrong, and that's fine. However to put that in motion you need some level support in the form of bodies. I can assure you that the tirades that we're forced to read through aren't helping your cause at all. On the contrary, they do the exact opposite. I rarely join missions but I will often help in an area if needed. However when I read enough of these rants I make a point of doing exactly the opposite of what that person is after.
If you want to move the fight in a certain direction, BUILD MISSIONS. People will typically follow the action, and missions are instant action generators. Eventually even those that don't care about the overall strategy will lend their help too, not for that sake mind you, but just due to the fact that a good fight now rages in your area of concern.
Point being if you want to move the action over to a specific country or a specific area, start building missions there and you WILL get the action there. This isn't rocket science but from what I've seen its well beyond the grasp of some. Actually in many cases the very ones that rant are never the creators of a mission. Odd indeed...loud and lazy...wonderful combo :).
You all know who you are. Do yourselves and your countrymates a favor and get off ch2 with the rants. Speak with actions instead, I'm sure you'll enjoy the game much more. I know I will.
Once we get a permanent squelch, I don't care what you do, I won't hear you. In the interim though missions are there for a reason, use em.
-
Another thing to keep in mind is that there's a reason for all the squadron functions in the game. If you want to take over the world, find some like minded people, form a squadron, run missions, have fun. It's a VERY basic concept. Then, when you don't have enough people to take a base, you can whine to your squadies in an email or something.

Agree. I have no problem with people who wants help at fields under attack, or a positive attempt to rally players to capture a base. What I DO mind is players repeatdly telling me I'm stupid because I can't understand their "strategic vision" and persistently fill ch 2 with utterly useless crap about strategy and where and when we should attack or defend!
I pay to play this game, and thats why I reserve my right to take a quick spin in a fighter into a furball to have fun. The strat-morons presents themself as negative self-obsessive and abusive dorks who should join a "clan" somewhere else on the net. Face it dorks - if u can understand it, then everybody else understands it.

Vortex forgot to mention something....
LEAVE THE FREAKING CAPS LOCK KEY ALONE! (Irony intentional)

and even if we understand it we may not care. I can get way more fighter perks dogfighting fer two hours in a g2 then the 20 for the reset.
Always some love muffin "WE NEED TO ATTACK V3 NOT FURBALL AT A24"
Well fek if takin v3 were fun it woulda got took........
People go where they are having fun. That 40+ mission planner gangbangs are not fun at all. especially when dont leave the fhs up so we can vulch. I am not gonna spend 30 min circlin over a smoked field pickin my arse.
You generals and admirals really outta form your own squad. You can spend your time on the squad channel beetchin about whos gonna lead who and how dumb everyone else for puttin 2 hours of fun over 20 perks.
-
If you generals want to make freinds then drop the vehicle hangers and the ack and go away.

Amen!

Just want to say this is a wonderful turn of phrase. :D

i signed on in the morning and heard a general crying and sad....came back that afternoon and i tell ya the guy was still going!
it can't be good for you generals to be typing defeatist "no one cares about our victory, i guess i'll go hang mah head an' cryyyy" messages all day.
go get some air dude.

If they'd just wear ashes and sackcloth it would at least generate some sympathy.
(I'm a sucker for ashes and sackcloth)

I want to be a general!
Can I be one if I rant too?

lol - now that's a classic.
-
Tune 2 and pay close attention eskimo. There's usually ample, uhm, trainers around willing to offer, er, advice.
-
VORTEX , now lets make a list :)
-
hehe...
It gets easier when you realize there is "No Winning". The concept of winning is an illusion. The concept of "Having Fun" is the only tangible reward.
Do I need to be more serious?
-
ROFL!
"ashes and sackcloth"
Oh, man.. thats perfect. :)
Oh.. btw; it's karyoke midget week in the CT, if anybody get bored in the MA :p
-
heard "karyoke midget week " was cancelled due to low turnout and that the everpopular "kurt tank week" was on. British fly TBM's to simulate beufighters and LW has all 190's enabled.

lol. Some of you folks actually don't squelch these little Napoleons?
eegads! ;)

It was horrible last knight.Flew as a Knight, and we were within 4 bases of winning reset, and there were three or four of these Aviation Patton's giving orders to everyone, and squeaking about Knights as a whole when people didn't follow their orders.

Please use your real MA name before winning about people who try to make their side win.

Why? Complaints are valid whether you know who people are or not.
And the problem is exactly with people who "try to make their side win." You wanna try to organize folks, fine. But no one ever has any right to squeak at me if I don't wanna participate.

Actually, you are participating. Furballing ties up enemy resources. That means less aircraft are available to defend against organized raids. Unfortunately, the Doolittles and Eakers of the Main Arena don't grasp that fact...... At first, neither did I. However, now when I see 20 or more red dots involved fighting with my country's furballing population, I know that those 20 enemy aircraft will not oppose us. My opinion - do what ever you enjoy and realize that you are, in fact participating in the overall goal. Convincing the autocrats is another problem....
My regards,
Widewing

I'm not sure who you are referring to,but if it's me,I keep my name different then the MA name for just this reason...to avoid flame wars.
You!!!you're a Spitdweeb,ackhugger,milkrunner,gangbanger, etc.
I guarantee our "winning",lol, is much less annoying here than the constant ranting of our virtual reality Patton's on Ch 1.
-
Theres nothing wrong with a quiet request for help, but I agree it goes too far.
I'm always happy for people to furball, like some others have said, it distracts a large number of nme cons. Two nights ago there was a large furball going on between 42 and 43. I snuck around behind the nme field with a lanc and flattened some of it.

No offence mr-know-it-all-Vortex, you can suck my left nutt. I love the strategy conversations between the senior players of AH and if I do it on the country channel, so be it. :D
As a bishop with experts such as Fariz, Busher, and other Generals, I love to chat strategy when we need it. If you don't like it, just squelch everyone. Besides, WTF to you care anyways?
Whino. ;)

Simply discussing strategy isn't what's at issue Vruth, but then that was pretty clear in my first post. Puruse the post again, you may garner a clue. Three times supposedly is the charm.

I thought I missed the stupid branches down the stupid tree this morning. Anyways, who gives a sheit if someone is excited about a mission or discussing strat? Get off yer high horse and play the freakin game. Then again, WTF do I know?
Next time I'll offer you cheeze with your whine.

Clearly much less than you're aware.

This is clearly another whine about strat whines.
Soon the whines will come full circle and DESTROY US ALL!!!!!

Well I see a point in this post. There are some people who jump on and dish out orders and if you don't listen you're a dweeb or stupid.
Now when squads decide to work together for a common goal that's another situation. I know these squads (cough)RJO(cough) work together each time they put one person as the CIC and follow that squads advice all night. Works great and builds a common bond between squadrans.
Of course I know you guys aren't referring to that situation (cough)RJO(cough). Those guys don't bark out orders they just "ask" for assistance not demand it. Those squads also count on the furballers to help by doing there thing and tying up resources.
:D
Love live Rookland!
-
I said the same thing earlier in the topic. Asking for assistance or giving a short status report is cool. Not yelling demands over ch2 and abusing ppl is they ignore you.
People will come if they want to. If they don't and the base falls, who cares! Go get a beer and relax. If you take the whole thing waaaay to seriously you're gonna pop a vessel.

Right on.
Slides a beer-------------> gavor

Indeed, gavor is bang on...especially the beer part :)
-
LOL, well atleast those generals give the furballers bases to take off from :D
Its getting tricky when you only have 2 bases left, and 60 conns hanging over the base ready to vulch. Whos screaming then ?
Its a game just squelsh them if you dont like what they say, no big deal is it ?
