Title: We have squads, how about wings?
Post by: Angus on February 17, 2002, 06:07:51 AM
We have so many squadrons in AH, and often no more than a couple of pilots from each online.
It crossed my mind if it would be a good idea to incorporate wings of say 4 squadrons. A wing channel would be needed, which would possibly take some pressure of Channel 2. I think this might also help with co-operation just like missions.
Tell me what you think :)

Hi Angus

We have a 2nd Tactical Air Force in Bishland which includes 9 Sqn, 56 Sqn (Firebirds), 249 (Gold Coast) Sqn, 308 (Polish) Sqn, 418 (Hornets) Sqn, Wings of Death and the Kraits.  We tune in on channel 156.  In all about 115 members or so.

Regards

MAG-33 is now 6 squads strong with 110 players.  We use a specific channel for comms (ie 100-199 yellow channel).  But I like the idea nonetheless

It is a wonderful idea - but I think you'd have trouble getting support for it.

Angus.. you mean certain type of plane squads, or like RAF in general?  IF we would do this, and went plane to plane match up, what about the holy TED's? :D

I had a wing once.. but somebody shot at him while we was running, and screaming like lil girls.. and then his wings fell off, and he crashed.

Is that a chicken wing?

CTRL S highlights squad members dots in the map and icons.
Second CTRL S highlights all the wing members.
Third CTRL S deactivates highlighting.

I think some of the squadron C.O.s will be a little hesitant at what they might perceive as a loss of 'command', but still a good idea nonetheless.

If you can't find any other willing squadrons to help you out, you can always create your own fighter or bomber group.  You can start a squadron called XXXth Fighter Group and have that as the command squadron and recruit as many as you see fit, then have someone create another squadron called, XXXth Squadron, XXXth Fighter Group and again fill the ranks as you see fit.  Then if you want to add another squadron to your fighter group, just repeat the process.
