Title: Panzer and AP rounds

Need someone to shed some light on this for me.  I love to fight in GVs, however it seems my panzer's AP rounds are very lacking....even at point blank range I have to hit another panzer 12-15 times to kill it, yet I get popped once and explode immediately.


This occurs no matter the time of day (i.e. lot sof people on, or just a few).  Someone has suggested this is indicative of a bad connection.  If this were the case it would also take lots of ammo in a fighter to kill another fighter, yet I do not find this to be the case.  A quick burst of cannons or a few MGs and I can quickly kill another plane.

Anyone????????

You're not alone...happens to me all the time. Funny thing...it takes exactly 3 75mm AP to kill a virgin PT every time...but any GV is a crapshoot as to how many hits you have to pump into it to eventualy kill them. Very rarely do you see a GV die from only one round from a Panzer...that ain't right IMO.

75mm KwK40 with Pzgr.39  APCBC (armour piercing composite ballistic cap) penetrated (slope 30 degrees) 96mm of armor from 500meter, 85mm from 1000m, 74mm from 1500m and 64mm from 2000m.

PzIV G's max armor was 80mm with additional plates in front hull, 50mm in turret's front and 30mm sides of the hull and turret.

draw your own conclusions :)

well thats funny cuz i hosted a h2h game the other day, tank battle, and i hit enemy pnzr's with one shot, and they explode, so i dont knwo what u guys are talkig about, 12-15 rnds...it's usually between 1 and 3 for me....

suspect queues on server or mishandeling the round shot info for server , <<< all servers are bugy >>> sometime wondered why other pnzr mising me becose usualy  i pop up after 1 or second shot,  maybe the mising shots for the other player displayed like direct hit and in real is it miss shot << desynxronisation >>

do no  excatly is it just a speculation

my nightmare is to kill a M3 in pnzr or M8
in M8 it take  sometime 30 hits to kill a M3

when driving M8 the M3 is for me the bigest danger  after planes

I like the M8 better than the panzer. It kills M3's and M16's with its 50 cal gun (because shooting an HE shell and hitting them square on does nothing, go figure!).

In most cases its just flaktanks.. their bazooka gun can kill planes, pznrs and halftracks with a few pings.. and yumyumyum 700+ rounds of ammo.

Imo the flaktank and the Pz4 should be perked.. at 8 and 4 perks accordingly. Give the lvts, m16s and m8's some decent use for once.

Perk the Panzer? What have you been smokin' today? If the Panzer could kill with just one AP hit and, If the Panzer could withstand the 50 cal shower and, If it was given spawnpoints on the maps to make it usefull in all the maps then you're suggestion wouldn't be so f***ing funny. Now perk this

That would be a small perk...and YOU would have to pay US the perk. :D

Regarding panzers...adjust your aim just a hair, or move just a tad..seems to solve the "10 hits and he's still shooting me" syndrome.

That's what I do...once ranged I move the hit sprite to the turret first...2 or 3 shots later I move it to the driver position and finaly in desperation I usualy move it to a point high on the tracks...sometimes if they get close enough that after a few AP hits to the tracks I'll switch to the .50 gun and only after a  few seconds of fire the track will finaly give way. No, sumthin' just isn't right with the 75mm AP rounds...hell, the HE's are like tossing marshmallows also :(

i have the same problem. Ive pretty much given up on GV's for the moment. Usually the first hit does some damage but all hits after that seem to do nothing. In the meantime they turn their guns on me and I die with 1 or 2 hits. Didnt used to happen like that but lately its been that way every time.

CC Ripsnort, I do that (move just a hair to change impact point) but it doesn't make any difference.


Ever once in a while I can kill an M3 or an FP with 3-5 hits, but usually it is well over 10 rounds to kill it.  I am also aware of the vehicle supply thing, but if the enemy gv took on supplies, he would stop smoking and it would be obvious what he is doing...but I am talking cases where it is clear there are no supplies.  


Here's a good one...just about 30 mins ago we had an M16 roll onto one of our fields, it was getting hit by field ack, 3-4 of our own gvs at point blank range, bombs from above and it sat there in the middle of the runway for about 5 minutes just shooting the field to pieces.  It finally died, but I was unable to find out who it was.

IMO, vehicles are hosed in AH and need some serious reworking...they used to be loads of fun, now it is more frustrating than anything...shame too, I love gv battles...nice distraction from constant furballing.

My experience in MA with Pzr loaded with AP is usually 1-2 rounds cause severe damage on most vehicles and destoyed at no more than 5. I think by far the weakest is the M8 Ive seen one explode with two AP rounds. But the hard part is targeting M8, especially with them at full speed. I like ambush tactics when fighting in GV's usually i spawn a Pzr when i know thier is one happening at a base. When defending I lie in wait for the unsuspecting chaps. Usually they are occupied with my own forces rushing the base like lemmings  while shells are exploding all around. They pass through my sights and they detonate.

The high velocity round seem to be more like mortor fire at 2k.  They make what seems to be an exaggerated arc which could be right.  It just seems wrong.  Also, I can't tell if my rounds are falling long or short.  The depth perception sucks through the sight.  If I try to get closer, they nail me.  I don't tank much.

I agree. once i was a panzer and a zeke hit me with a few 7.7 rounds and my track fleww off. then i hit it with my 88mm on the runway and it still gits off the ground!!!!!:(  So whats the deal??:confused:
