I know this has been covered before on the BBS, but I never caught the threads. Could one of you fine gentlemen explain to me how the ranking system works?
In the giant Hamster Wheel that is the MA, one of the things I shoot for is to increase my rank as a Bomber pilot. I have some great sorties, land most of my missions, and yet, still find guys with 5 mins, 1 Sortie, 1 Death ranked higher than me.
Whats the deal? No matter what, It's the Rank system is not going to change how or what I fly, but it would be nice to have one's achievement recognized by al least being in the top 100 Bomber pilots.

Bomber rank is kinda of dweeby heres how it works.
Ground Categories
Damage per Death
Damage per Sortie
Bombing percentage
Ground points
Field captures
These are the only 5 categories that effect buff rank.......
Damage per Death = TotalDamage / ((Discos * 0.5) + Bails + Captures + Deaths + 1)
Damage per Sortie = TotalDamage / TotalTourSorties
Bombing percentage =
(TotalTourBombsHit + TotalTourRocketsHit + TotalTourTorpedosHit) /
(TotalTourBombsUsed + TotalTourRocketsUsed + TotalTourTorpedosUsed)
Ground points =
(DamagePointsScoredOnObjectsTh isSortie * DeathMult) +
TotalTourDamagePointsScoredOn Objects +
(DestroyedPointsScoredOnObject sThisSortie * DeathMult) +
TotalTourDestroyedPointsScore dOnObjects
Field captures = FieldCapturesThisSortie + TotalTourFieldCaptures

Death Multipliers are the same as the post I made about fighter rank.
Bombing percentage =
(TotalTourBombsHit + TotalTourRocketsHit + TotalTourTorpedosHit) /
(TotalTourBombsUsed + TotalTourRocketsUsed + TotalTourTorpedosUsed) [/b]
What this essentially means is that the more you kill with least amount of bombs will give you the highest rank in this category.
The only way to achieve a top buff rank with minimum effort is to
bomb the training facilities in a lancaster using 6 x 2000 + 3 x 500 lb bombs.

All you drop is your 6 2k bombs. You dont use the 3 x 500.
If you drop accurately you will destroy all 3 block of structures. After you drop the 6 2ks rtb thats it. Add a couple base captures you will be in the top 10.
For rank purposes it doesn't matter how many nme planes you shoot down all that matter is those 5 categories above. For rank purposes it always better to avoid the nme and to rtb then be forced to ditch your ordinance or be shot down.
The buff dweebs dont even know how it works and if they do they are preoccupied with ruining the fun of others.
The only reason I am even posting this is so maybe some of you fluffers may decide to lay off the fhs and fight each other over whos gonna milkrun a training facility the most.

I appreciate the enormous amount of information you provided in the above post, but there's no way I'm going to waste my time bombing training facilities. Gues I'll just have to keep on "Ruining the fun" for the fighter jocks, and to hell with the Ranks.
BTW, seems awfully unfair to get no points for shooting down enemy planes.

fyi training facilities yield the most reward fer rank...... however twns and depos will give you good reward. 3 2k bombs spaced on each will give you ok results.
The important thing to remember is to kill as much as possible with as little as possible. If you engage fighters do so after you drop. Kill per death doesnt help or hurt buff rank but if you die with all your bombs I believe they are counted as "used". This will impact your bombing percentage which in turn will greatly effect your rank.
also in those 5 categories
Damage per Death say you rank 1
Damage per Sortie you rank 1
Bombing percentage you rank 1
Ground points you rank 1
Field captures you rank 100
100 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 104
Damage per Death say you rank 1
Damage per Sortie I rank 20
Bombing percentage I rank 20
Ground points I rank 20
Field captures I rank 20
20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 100
I would rank higher then you in the buff category
if no one score higher then me in all 5 caregories combined then I am 1st....if every one does I am last.........if 10 people do I am 11th...etc..........
overall rank works this way as well add fighter + buff + gv + attack = x if x is lower then everyone else you will rank 1st........
