Thanks airspro,
I've been running the 7199 drivers and although they helped my Benchmark 2001 score I'm getting some strange graphic anomilies (Hanger doors disappearing, Icons through cockpit [friendly only unfortunately :D] and stutters when ground clutter becomes visible to name but a few). I'll drop back to the 7153 drivers and see if it cures it.

I tried a bunch of differen't drivers for the 8500. Finally got it where I wanted it but I was one of those who got suckered early on with the OEM product, however I have it overclocked to proper retail specs. Dunno if that matters but if you want me to check, send a note and I'll reply when I get off work (t'morrow morn) with what drivers I ended up with. I "think" I'm using the beta drivers off the ATI website. (oops, I'm on WinXP too)
...get Dx8.1 for sure either way.

ive tried almost every driver out there for the 64 ddr vivo radeon , ive found that the omega 4.13.9012 is the best in aces u can get it at http://www.omegacorner.com hope it works good for you 8) 38

I've used 7153, 9013 and 9016.
9016 from yesterday and works good.
So far 9016 seems good.
7199 was *worst* ones I've ever had... DX drivers are messed up in those.
A friend was using W2K drivers equal to W98s 7199 (can't remember W2K version though) and had same problems, which dissapeared when I told him to change the drivers.
I recommend so far 9016's.
With 7153s theres some bugs with FSAA.

I've been using Omega drivers and so far they have been working nicely.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've downloaded a selection of drivers including all the ones mentioned above, I'ts a bit longwinded, but I hope to give them all a try by the end of the weekend in a variety of games and check frame rates where possible and graphics glitches, each install will be as clean as I can make it, (Delete original driver, flush ati*.inf files, clean registery etc). I've already deleted my "Radeon Tweaker" and I'll try to leave it uninstalled until I get withdrawl symptoms :D. I'll let you know what I find.
One final question, did you use the bios settings recommended on the omega page with thier drivers?
Thanks again.

I'm using "Rage3D tweaker" with my Radeon and IMHO its better than "Radeon Tweaker".
