Title: K/D ratio?
Post by: Doberman on February 20, 2002, 03:53:15 PM
Why is the ratio "kills / deaths +1" for score/ranking?  Why the "+1"?  There's probably some completely obvious explination for this, but I'm just missing it. :)

I'm still sure it *should* read:

If deaths=0 then KD=kills/(deaths+1) else KD=kills/deaths.

(note:  missing full equation cos cant be arsed to type all the bailed and disco stuff)

It's all very well stopping a div zero error, but for those of us who dont fly (or die) that much, this +1 makes a notable difference to k/d ratio.

Swoop, that's give everyone one free death, not affecting the KD.

I suggest this instead

If deaths=0 then
    Print "This guy is very good. Let's see how long he keeps the streak."  Icon.Caption = "GOD"
else
  KD=kills/deaths
end if

If you think of deaths in the formula as really being "lives" it makes a bit more sense.
We all log in with one life.
HTC gives us the rest for $15 a month!

Yup.. it is not K/D it is K/L (K/D+1). You dont score kills in death, but when alive you do ;)

Kills per life.. kills per career, etc. Death only ends the current life or career. Or then the end of the tour ends it. Your next life begins immediatly, even if you dont fly in it.

K/L makes the most sense to me :)

HTC,

Please copy and paste this code into version 1.09 thank you

If deaths>1 and CPID = "Gremlin" then
   deaths = 0
   kills = kills+10
end if

for each nit in nitwitland
   nit.ganginbastage = true
next

for each rookie in rookieland
 rookie.hardceiling =  30000ft
next

Gremlin.
