Title: Collision detection IS porked
Post by: Steven on February 22, 2002, 10:55:56 PM
I've edited this....

I flew an F6F tonight and got into some weird situation where *supposedly* it was a collision and my mighty Hellcat lost a wing to a Zeke.  I know the collision only occurs to the aircraft with the FE that detects this collision and so I figured my film would show the contact.  However, in reviewing the film, there is no contact.  So I wonder, is the film recorder porked or is the collision detection system porked?

I don't have any answers for you. I think anyone who has flown for a while will have a foul up like that at a time that is the worst possible moment.  I can remember leading a very large group in Warbirds, (was a co-op between several squads) over 70 pilots. My views and communications locked up. I had to only a left view and could not see where I was going. I had to dive and die so they would not follow me. I could not type to explain why I dove to my death. Had to reboot and then listen on RW as they hit their targets with lots of action going on.

Post in one of the tech forums... maybe they will have an answer. :(

All I can say is I wish it was me and not you puke.
Next time. :)

nope, I checked logs.  No badguy damage on Puke.  He appeared twice in the raw logs.  once for taking off, once for bailing.

Since I've been in Aces High, its very hard to see a kill shot on a recording, mater of fact, I've never seen a kill shot on a recording.
