someone please help me on the CORRECT way of installing directx 8.0 on my computer so i can get back to dying in a horrible wreck against all of you! when i first installed it i opened the exe program and everything installed all ok, so it told me i needed to restart, so i did, then it took like 20 min to reboot cause  it was updating stuff from 7.0 to 8 then it asked me to locate some drivers, which i had no idea where they were. so could someone please help me. also i installed v8.1, do i need to install 8.0 before 8.1?? what am i doing wrong.

No DX 8.1 is fine, and you don't need to install 8.0 first.

I'll need more information to help you.  Lets start with what operating system you are running, what sound and video cards you are running, and what driver versions.  With that information I can give you some more detailed tips.

Basically, I think you need to update your sound and video drivers after doing the DX 8.1 update.

well i think u just figured out my problem, well heres my system anyway

p3 1.0 Ghz
128 ram
Nvidia geforce 2 32mb vid card
soundblaster live soundcard

MY MAIN QUESTION WOULD HAVE TO BE, how do i update my video card drivers!!! cause i needed to do it for some other game i wanted to play as well. if you could give me those detailed instructions i would be sooo grateful, i havent updated the vid drivers since i got the computer a year ago, i never knew that was somthing that had to be done often. so if you could tell me what to do. THANKS SO MUCH

oh yea im running windoze ME, the, by far worst OS ever!
