More specific, it is a Aichi E13A1 since there is no exhaust stubs showing as on the E13A1b.

That is easy!
It's a katana, in standard officers mount and scabard. Due to the blade being out of sight, I'll guess it is a mass produced Showa era blade, with "Kobuse san mai kitae" blade forging being used. The temper line is likely a shallow Notare or Suguba with a Iori Mune blade shape. It looks like a standard issue tsuba.
Oh, and the guy with it is getting on a plane.:D

    As far as the blade, err big stick, ahh knife thing...M.C. sounds like he knows what he is talking about for regreatabley I know next to nothing on this subject:)
