I would like to suggest the addition of the Me-323 Gigant transport to the game.

http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/LRG/me323.html
The Gigant would be ideally suited for carrying double loads (Eg, troops and air field supplies in one shot) or, better yet, for transporting a GV to an otherwise inaccessible place.
The Gigant uses RATO and can land in rough areas.
It would not unbalance the game strategically because it is an easy to shoot down plane. Slower then a C-47 and a better target, it is suited for heavy cargo delivery.
Thoughts?

It's big.

More seriously, cool plane, but I don't see them modeling something like this before, say, a P40 or F4F, etc. Interesting plane, and I'd like to shoot one down, but it'd prolly take 3 times as long to draw up the 3D artwork for this than it did the B17. Take for instance, the research HTC would have to do to find out to how the interior looked would likely be a huge task. Then you have to ask, Is the plane going to be that important to gameplay as say (for example) a P40 would be?

Would be nice if this thing could "drop" a VH :)
Broesy

It would be nice of we could get the early P-38 and P-40's that chewed on those toys over the Med at the same time ;)
Honest question; How often do you (or others) fly C-47's?

I probably fly at least one C47 sortie a night, sometimes two. Either running troops or resupply. The 323 would be nice if it added the capability to run troops and supplies in the same sortie or drop vehicles.
-
K West, I fly C-47s probably more then I fly any other model of plane. One neat thing about AH is how the appeal is broader then just fighter jocks or bomber types.
I fly infrastructure flights (troops, field supplies and vehicle supplies) more often then any other type, and I know I'm not the only person. I enjoy both relaxing sea-level cruises while reading a book and twisting my way through a canyon with supplies, trying to avoid roving patrols against whom I have no defense.

You really think this plane can transport a Tank or a Flak Panzer?
That's a lot of tonage.
-
The Gigant could not transport any of the vehicles we have in AH.
There were some light vehicles that it could carry, IIRC.
They are talking about gameplay concessions with the Gigant.
However, given that neither the Gigant nor C-47 could actually carry those loads, giving the same gameplay concessions to the C-47 would have about the same effect without the massive ammount of 3D model work.

Sorry, whats this then
It should be able to carry M16, M3 and Osty

I wonder if there would be any place in the game for a seaplane?

Me-323 Armament:
5x MG 15 mounted in nose mounts
6x Mg 34 infantry MG's in beam windows
Waffentraeger (Weapons Carrier)
11x 20mm MG 151 cannon
and
4x 13mm MG 131 Machine Guns
At least it would not be so easy target for those skilles goon hunters... :D
btw. did anyone of you notice that C-47 pilots just rarely break when you are attacking them? In most cases they just fly straight and dont try any evasives. Well I like that when attacking enemy goon but when in mission and we have friendly goons comming in and they all got shot down without trying to evade although they had to be overhelmed by check 6 messages... Thats something that really drives me crazy sometimes...

The Gigant could carry a Marder, which was a decent tank destroyer based on the PzIV chassis.
-
How about this:
When HTC models the B 29 with the A-bomb it would take an entire Me 323 to rebuild the target
-
I imagine the Gigant could carry the M8 and possibly even the M24 Chaffe. GVs are truly the favorite part of AH for me.
-
HTC wont give us Nuke :( And if they will it will be usable against strategic targets only and not while taking a base because the poor buff driver who would spend his 1000+ perks on the B-29 with Nuke would killshoot himself while droping it on field which is caped and vulched already by friendlies...
-
Don't forget that sooner or later (probably later) HiTec plans an FPS element to base capture.
When that comes, the 323 may indeed have some use (also, don't forget the first versions of the 323 were gliders, would be *extremely* cool to see a He111 Zwilling lugging one of these things around).
People obsess too much about new planes all the time.
Take a look at some of the more consistant whines on the board, they all take code work to fix too.

That thing made outta spruce?...:D

hey there is a similar thread over here...

they (and the z-wings) are definately fun to shoot down.
IL2 has them.

I have read it could take tremendous amount of punishment. Yes easy to hit, but hard to bring down. They actully used fighter-bombers and planes like b-26 to shoot these things down over mediterranean.
The Gigant could carry a Marder, which was a decent tank destroyer based on the PzIV chassis.
Actually, Marders were built on Pz 38(t), Pz II and Pz I chassis. Gun was 75L48 PaK or 76L51(r) captured russian gun adapted for 75mm ammo. Marders had good hitting power but not much armor to talk about. Their main role was in ambushes and defense. Very much like towed PaKs were deployed.
The Gigant could not transport any of the vehicles we have in AH.
All other Ostwind and PzKpfw IVh not included.
Something that it could transport: FlaK 88mm/sIG 150mm(and all below)+SdKfz 7 Gun tractor(as seen on pic above), light pazers, armored cars, Flak vehicles(not flakpanzers), Marders and some better armored light panzerjägers like Hetzer (nasty little bugger good gun and well sloped armor)...and many many men.
