I have little doubt in my mind that the parts from my car will end up in some riceboy's car somewhere.  You'll know him by the "Yeah.. I got this whole leather interior for $500 bucks" story.

The comforting thing is knowing that the insurance company no longer caters to their whims.  I asked the agent if she'd need the keys at payoff and she said "No.. we're crushing it".  I was amazed because what was left was in such good condition.  She said, "If we auction it, someone will rebuild it and put it back on the street where it will be re-stolen... we don't like to continue the cycle."

BTW.. in regards to the page... it doesn't hold a candle to what I saw yesterday.  As I was driving, I noticed a car in the review mirror who's front clip looked wrong.  It seemed to be 2 or 3 inches off center.  As the car passed, I could see that it was a Toyota celica front end... but the doors weren't lining up.  The rear was also from a celica.  Then I saw the emblem on the door "cavalier".  It was a cavalier convertable (80's) with a celica front and rear clip riveted on (hand rivets).  The celica clip was about 4 inches wider... so special "tricks" had to be used to get it to almost line up.  Damn.. it was hilarious.

Wow! Just crush it, sell the remainder for scrap metal prices, unbelievable...guess she's right, why bother continueing the cycle.

So, what 'cha gonna get to replace it?: Same thing?  I love the looks of Acura's....how about one of these? ;)

Actually if the car wasn't damaged while stripping it, the parts may end up on your car.  There’s apparently a scam going on around here where the car is stripped (some times by thieves, sometimes by the owner who reports it stolen) they strip the car of spendy bolt up parts and don't tear it up during removal, then look for it at the insurance auctions then buy it put the same parts back on and get a new car cheap (or in the case of an owner ran scam they use the insurance payment to pay off the loan)

If you are curious it might be interesting to see who buys the salvage on the body.

The insurance company is well aware of this cpt... that's why they are crushing the car.
