Apparently there's a new bug that comes with the patch:
http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard301/ikonboard.cgi?s=3c7ff2da0d00ffff;act=ST;f=3;t=7388
I havnt tried this yet myself to confirm but supposedly you cant land a helo any more, only hover very low to the ground and turn your engine off.
Guess there'll be another mini patch out next week......
Hey and Bug.... :D ....that aint the last mission.

- When a starshell is lit, script onFlare.sqs in mission directory is called. Received [[R, G, B],
gunner], where R, G, B is the light color from <0, 1>.
The game is so cool. Anyone know of any good SP missions (possibly involving stuff like artillery spotting)?
Heck, anybody do any good coop missions? With ASE the only coop missions I got in inevitably had some griefer with a sniper rifle who'd get bored and kill everybody.
-
my favorite single player is still bomber man, 2 weeks ago i actually finished it without calling in any suport.
set the charges to take out the convoy but only damaged the t-80 so the crew would bail out.
sniped the crew of the t-80 and the shilka.
got into the gunner seat of the t-80 and waited for the bmp to come check out the fight- took him out.
while the t-80 couldn't manuver i did manage to back it up the hill some.
used the he rounds to shell the town 'till out of ammo.
then followed the edge of the sea around and sniped the rest of the town

One of my favorite stunts is to get in a vehicle that has a live or dead enemy commander. ENemies see you as blue, and you can thrash them at will. This is fun for stuff like the two black-op preinvasion of Kolgujev missions, where there are guys standing around tanks. sneak up, get in the tank as gunner. At that point they start scampering, and next thing you know, you're taking orders from the ruskies. Have the other squad members "drag" the tank around, maybe force the AI to send in some more armor. Hehehe entertainment itself.
-
ya, thats great fun. i did that at the campaign game where you attack the armor depot. put a charge under the helo and a couple of the tanks, saved one charge. then went to the lone t-80 off by itself and hid in the bushs. set off the charges then waited to jump in the t-80 until an nme got in first. leveled the whole base then jumped out, dropped the last satchel and ran for the trees. he stopped the tank(i guess to switch to gunner) and i set off the charge, best mission ever, i think i killed all available targets.

gee thanks guyz, now I'm gonna hafta load that game up and have another go at it lol
-
Anyone know where you ca find *good* extra missions etc for OpF?
There's lots out there: 99% suck.
Inquiring minds want to know...
-
In a word. No.
You're right, most of em suck. For best results, make your own with the editor.
I've got 1 or two........but as I've never released a mission to the general public I never bothered writing briefings, etc.
If anyone's in a squad for OFP, the best online maps I've played can be fought over here: http://ofp.stronger.org/
Instead of the usual, boring, capture the flag style missions the admins have used individual maps with a specific objective. For example, the map I fought last week contained supply convoys, the side who's most convoys made it to base won.
And if anyone aint in a squad...... http://www.1stbattalion8thmarines.com/

Man, I have a STACK of great game CD's I can't get to. Nascar 2002 ain't helping, but OFP Gold has got my attension.
Anyone tried the massive force on force mission?
Having waves of troops come in over a vast field, and only having the limited M16 view is about frustrating.
Gimme the scoped semi-rifle. Is that possible?

Our squad plays OFP pretty regularly. We don't do H2H stuff with other squads though... its strictly Co-Op missions. For some reason, the H2H stuff always seemed to spoil the feel of the game for me.
And Creamo... I have N2002 sitting here too... still unopened in the box. :(

when do you guys do missions? I just reinstalled ofp the other day and finaly got it running smoothly with all the new patches. I'm getting hooked but really want to do some coop missions online.
-
I have thought about buying one of these? Anyone have experiences with Ghost Recon?
-
I personally like Ghost Recon better.
GR has better gameplay (IMO) and better graphics
OFP is more open and flexible, and you can drive tanks and fly planes (though that part of the game is kind of a let down to me)
All about personal preference.

Udie.. shot you an e-mail through UBB. If that's not a current e-mail addy... send me an e-mail at dstaines@teleport.com
Rogwar... I am a big fan of the Clancy Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear series. They really are a different type of game.
Rogue spear relies more on timing and planning. OFP is more of a make it up as you go kinda game. The AI in both games pretty much sucks, but in totally different ways.
The main thing I like about OFP is the aiming system. It seems a tad more real feeling to me. Range matters and targets aren't as distinguishable. But that really is quite subtle.
OFP has a downloadable demo. I'm not sure if RS does or not. Download em and try em... oppinions vary so much on these two that its hard to get a real helpful answer.

ghost recon is much better online the ofp.......
ofp however still gets my attention offline.
I just wish both would get on with modding some ww2 stuff
that bomber man missions is a fediddleing hoot...........

It is funny how two games can be so similar yet be so different. Equally interesting is how most people clearly prefer one over the other with about a 50% split.
I have Ghost Recon, but it isn't even on my hard drive any more. I generally have no interest in fps games of the quake genre, and Ghost Recon leans more that way. Confined area with limited choices. It looks and sounds cool, but it doesn't look and feel as real as OFP.
I like the freedom of actions possible in OFP. I can take weapons and other items of interest from dead people and use just about any strategy I want. No restrictions on where I can go or what I can do. Some of the missions I have downloaded are unbelievable in terms of how far you can take the scripting. The Siberian Fox James Bond style mission was just beautiful to watch complete with James Bond music. There are some missions that are as intense as a D-Day invasion: one actually is an uphill beach assault under heavy enemy fire. There don't seem to be any limits to what can be done with this game if people take the time to script good missions.
I wish OFP would add even more things:
Hand-to-hand combat with fists/feet, knives/bayonets, or anything else you can pick up.
Improved vehicle/aircraft modeling.
The ability to jump, dive, roll, etc.
Most of all, they need to get the tools released to the modders so we can have WWII/Korea/Vietnam. Though I am sure some will make urban police/Max Payne style worlds and who knows what else with the kind of creative talent that is out there. I can even imagine WWI, Civil War, and Revolutionary War mods (though you really need swords, bayonets, and horses to do those right).
The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades

Man, you would make a fortune.

And Creamo... I have N2002 sitting here too... still unopened in the box.
Dude, load it. I put it in before raceday, Darrel Waltrip gives you the whole track layout and how to run it. It's amazing to see the strat pre-race. Plus it gives you a good idea on how they run.
The graphic and sound update is well worth it, but the "ideal race line" graphic has just made it fun to try and do well in that hardass sim all-a-sudden.
Sound wise, go external view, it just roars. Im looking to find a mod or how to make the incar sound the same. It models a thin tin reverb, which I don't like. try it. It kicks ass.
Now where's Wil?
-
Are FPS improved in retail version compared to the demo of OFP?
-
Yeah Mandoble, quite a big difference, at least on my machine.

cc, otw to the shop full WEP :D

As StreakEagle said, OFP is all about he great outdoors. I think you get a good feel for the differences in gameplay by checking out the Demos. OFP has a demo with a pretty good firefight, And GR has a limited area (hostage rescue?) I don't really remember, because I couldn't get over the fact that I had to go inside. I never made it into the castle due to lack of interest (for god's sake there was a castle. What's next dragons?). I wanted to like GR, but it just wasn't in the cards. I ended up buying OFP and have no regrets.
My favorite part of OFP is how it makes you feel pretty damn smart sometimes. There's a mission where you are in a full retreat, cut off from everyone. Did anyone else steal a tractor and drive it to the extraction point?

Try the Red Hammer campaign.......

OFP Patch 1.45 had a chopper landing bug. Codemasters will release Patch 1.46 today. Unfortunately, Patch 1.45 was in compatible with Satchel's outstanding sound pack. Somebody is working on a fix for this too.
My OFP Review: OFP rocks!!!!
BTW, you NASCAR 2002 owners need to join GROWL NASCAR, an online air combat sim player's racing league. We have a dedicated T-1 Server and 20 some-odd members. We are currently in Season Two and racing at Las Vegas Wed. Nite with NASCAR 4. We will make the switch to NASCAR 2002 for our Atlanta race next week.
And for any Formula One fans out there, we also have a Grand Prix Legends league which just finished Season Four. We begin Season Five in two weeks.

1.46 is out.

1.46 is awesome. It really changes some things for the better from both enemy and friendly AI and some other things.
There's a minor problem though... many servers are crashing when you try to take weapons from the cargo area of a vehicle.
There should be another patch out soon.

I didn't ever install 1.45, I waited for 1.46 and got the Satchel's Sound Pack 1.45/1.46 patch...
This game just keeps getting better.
The helos feel better now instead of having a hair trigger collective that made it very difficult to land and maneuver and with Satchel's Sound Pack, it sure is fun using the Cobra's cannon. Now if they would just fix it to be a "20mm" cannon instead of a "30mm" cannon.
My dad and I have a blast with multiplayer co-op.
-
I havenet played OFP since it first came out.
Where do you play multi player at? and where do you DL the patch to play Online?
-
Multiplayer is built into the game. You can find the patches to the latest versions at: http://www.flashpoint1985.com

For a better method of finding a game session look here:
http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/
Works like a Counterstrike environment where all servers running the game are listed, no subscription, no need to write down IPs, etc.

I am extremely adicted to this game now, since 1.45/1.46 and with satchel's sound mod (OMG! sounds so real) I played for about 10-12 hours this weekend LOL!
I don't like all the dedicated servers though, they are all full of CTF crap and all they do is all up in choppers and go destroy the other teams equipment 2 min into the game so for the next hour you have to walk everywhere. I think I need to join a squad for good MP coop games.
I realy suck at this game though :D
-
Stunning game, I just cant stop playing it. Any place to download SP missions?
-
1.47 Beta standalone server is up. It fixes the server crash bug.

Udie,

Thats ooVet's Co-op server. One of the busiest servers around and co-op missions only. I may even see ya on there.......
