Hehehe, reminds me that old WWII film with the pink submarine. I think Cary Grant and Tony Curtis, if my memory suits me :)
-
Kind of reminds me of a turd I layed today. Had that same shape and greenish hue.

UGH! that conning tower must have really hurt! :D

Its a Improved Los Angeles Class Atack sub.
U can tell by the support wings on the conning tower and the longer torpedo shape to it.

Actually the Improved LA class has the sail planes in the bow, bow planes that can be rigged in or out. This is an older LA class (688 to 725, Uss San Juan, SSN 751 started with the bow plane for underice capability).
Also, I do believe there is no difference between the lengths of a LA and Improved LA. Both are 360 feet, 8 inches long and 33 feet beam.
Also there is a conning tower, but it is not a tower anymore. The 'conn' is part of the control room. The sail (tower) is not manned during submerged operations. Only when the sub is on the surface are there men on the 'bridge', which is on top of the sail.
I served aboard one for 4 1/2 years! :)
Nice boat!!

Hope they can use it for the cover of the new version of Harpoon, if they ever release that.
I believe the sub is the Chicago
-
Our correct I miss id'd it it is most likely a older LA shark, I didnt say anything about it being longer than previous LAs I just said it has a longer torpedo shape to it like all LAs the Typhoons and Akula class subs dont look like torpedos they each have destink shape and siloet to them.
