This looks interesting, and all, and I'll probably show up, but...  umm...

I don't know how to say this without offending anyone, but...

I prefer events with airplanes fighting airplanes.  This is *Aces* High, after all.

Ok, now that that's been said, and remember, it's "just sayin'"....

What does 'multiple lives' mean?  Unlimited?  Only a certain number per hour?  Limited spawn rate?

See ya tonight.

Snap shots are usually "1 life per event" scenarios, meaning once you die, your done for the night...tonight, you can die, and re-up just like in Main arena...until the CM declares the event over.

Er, that should say "Tonight, and tomorrow", they repeat this event for Euro-friendly times too, Thank Goodness!

I've gotta admit, I was pretty skeptical about this one, but I really had a good time during last night's snapshot.

I had a good time despite my dang computer locking a few times.

Still only about 30 folks played, though. At the same time there were about 100 or so in the MA.

Where were all these HA fans that are supposed to be around here somewhere?

Perhaps HTC still knows the market, eh?

Not very fair when you're pitting American  fleet carriers against Japanese cruisers, rather than American pocket carriers against Japanese Yamato and Nagato class battleships, battle cruisers, heavy crusiers and destroyers.

You've set up a for ordained American victory.  There is no way that the Japanese can win that fight.

And the Japansese *didn't* win that fight. However, I don't think it should be the goal neccessarily to create or even expect an even fight all the time. These are historical events, and as such the results are sometimes preordained - and I think we should be prepared for that. It's just cool to take part in, and it can be just as much fun to die trying.

That being said, the CMs *do* try to create an even fight it seems to me. The reason the IJN lost last night was due to several reasons beyond the event design. It could really have gone either way.

Waiting for the next ETO snapshot.  Don't care for pacific war too much (unless there's jugs involved  ;) ).

Maybe they didn't on that occasion - but it was a different story on the later version of the Snapshot held yesterday afternoon!   :)

Thanks rip!  :)

The majority of our events are historical, but I personally would never write one that was lopsided with no chance for a side to win. This was the first time we tried one with ships as the focus. Yes it is a "flight sim", but with other options open to us. I think it is very short sighted to write events that will "only" be with aircraft.

If you read my AAR Karnak the IJN might have won Friday night, but for some problems. Also if you read up on the event you would see the The American CV's only had TBM's with rockets.  http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=000444 (http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=000444)
If it was not for multiple lives there would have been little chance for the Americans to win. Well over 40 TBM's were shot down.

Once the IJN heavy guns were in range it was over. The IJN lost in numbers but destroyed both American fleets Friday night.
