most cannon planes have yellow paint on the front of the wings?

Because in a real life HO, you couldnt see much of the other planes paint job. I know for a fact that is why the British painted the leading edges of the wings yellow, no idea why the Germans did it but it is probably for a similar reason. It was basically to help friendly pilots identify a friendly plane headed straight at them before they both started shooting.

Not exactly sure what you are referring to...
...but they would tape the muzzles of wing gun ports to keep crap and ice from forming in the muzzles - the first round fired would just blow through it... are these small colored squares around the ports what you are referring to? They are different colors depending on plane.

Ah... if it is what Urchin is referring to - a lot of German fighters having yellow noses and wingtips, yeah - it is for aircraft identification in the dogfight so pilots wouldn't be as likely to take snapshots at friendies.

ah, so thats why
thanks the the quick reply
