Heh, actually thats a bubble canopy Mk XIV.  The image is just the 20th Spit image on the site.  You can tell that its a Mk XIV because its got the engine housing for a Griffon and the eliptical wings of the early Spits.  The Mk F.20 had the redesigned wings, not as pretty, but better at high speed handling.

Thanks Karnak, beautiful pics. How you can say the bubble canopy is ugly is beyond me.
My guide to flying spits identifies it as a Spitfire XVIIIe, owned by Rudy Frasca, based at Urbana Illinois.
The XVIII was basically the "proper" Griffon fighter, in the same way the VIII was supposed to be the "proper" 2 stage Merlin machine. The IX and the XIV were both cobbled together in haste to get the new engines in service. 300 were made. Hope it's not too long till we see one of these in AH.
