Er that being said.... The WW is gonna kick arse... I'm gonna be there if only to make someone waste ammo on me before I eventually die. I'm a generous person. I'd do that for you. See ya's tomorrow. :)

I'll be there, got nothing better to do.
-
Would it be too much to ask that event timings also be given in C.E.T.? (Central European time). You'd make a lot of happy campers.....
-
What's 10pm Eastern in C.E.T time?
-
That's what *we'd* like to know too :)
(gotcha!)

<PUNT>!!!
And for all of you daft Euros who just dont have a clue....it is being held at 10 pm Eastern US time....feel free to convert this to whatever time you want wherever you may be. ;)
-
Why thank you, Sling, that's *exactly* the kind of user friendly attitude that's given AH such the active, varied and well attended history we've all enjoyed so much.
I'm sure you're one of the reasons the HTC events team is held in the regard it is.

Figured I better requote my own post to draw attention to the little yellow smiley thing at the end....did ya see that Seeker? Get your panties out of a knot. ;) ;) (there I put in 2 of em so you wouldnt miss em this time)
Incidentally....Events are always announced in Eastern US time but for some reason you take it upon yourself to call attention to the fact that we dont announce them in your time while everybody else just makes the conversion and shows up....why is that? I mean, you dont see me causing a stir because they arent announced in Central US time just because that is where I live do you?
Lighen up Francis....it was a jest.
Sheeeeesh!!!
-
"why is that? I mean, you dont see me causing a stir because they arent announced in Central US time just because that is where I live do you"
Because EST is a US standard. CET is a European one. This is a global game.
I've been working diddlying hard for the last six months to get this event off the ground, and I want to see it do well.
To do that, it needs to be inclusive, not exclusive.
It's a simple concept. Why put obstacles in the way? Sure, AH *does*, by and large, have a mature clientele; but there's kids too.
Lastly, you've no idea how many times I've sat up untill 0400 only to find that the event started 0300 and some diddlywit forgot to add summer time, or winter time or similar (to be fair, 50% of the time it's been my own fault)
In reality, seeing as this is an aviation sim, we should be using UTC, but that's probably too geeky.
When we on this side of the pond book days off work so we can take part in these things, you can be absolutly sure we take our fun very, very seriously.
Buck up, and *help* people.

So exactly what the f@#$ have you been doing to get this event off the ground? The majority of posts I see from you in regards to events in general just seem to be more whining than anything else.

AFAIK most customers are pretty damn happy with the CM team.
I've been working diddlying hard for the last six months to get this event off the ground, and I want to see it do well.
Oh really?
If begging for a KOTH (which I've incidently never seen you do) is considered 'working diddlying hard', then I'm just dying to hear what ya do for real work.
Lighten up. In the time it took for you to write that incredibly longwinded post, you could have found the conversion on the internet and posted it instead, helping ALL the Euros out.
-
Seeker the events are announced in US Eastern time and it is up to the player to convert the time.
There are a few reasons for this.
If we start doing more thatn E.S.T we are going to have to do EuropeAN...or more specifically..London time, Paris time, Frankfurt time, then we need to make the folks in Asia happy and convert to Tokyo etc etc etc. We are not trying to exclude anybody, we are ASSSUMING that the player can download the timezone converter off of the HTC website and use it. Failing that perhaps the player can ask a squad member or type a message on channel 1 in the main arena while playing.
OR....a player can even ask in a PROPER manner on this BB or in the Special Events Forum and perhaps get the answer.
You mentioned that you've worked damn hard for this event. If you truely worked hard at it great. Now how would you feel about it if I slammed all of your work, told you that it sucked, you sucked and this event was pathetic.....THINK ABOUT THAT FOR JUST A SECOND....PLEASE!
-
Seeker, I made the decision to have everyone on the CM team use US Eastern Time as the default time, and let everyone else use their time conversion tool of choice to figure out what time that is in their location. I myself live in the US Central time zone(same as HTC) and have to adjust my start times, too.
As a matter of fact, I'd like to ask you right now to do your part to help the community by making a conversion chart and post it in the Special Events forum, showing the start times of all our events, converted for every timezone in the world. I'd really appreciate it.
-
Skernsk...You suck, your squad sucks, and everything you do is pathetic. I'm looking forward to the event tonight tho'! :D
Seeker, you have really ran out of imagination if this is all you can come up with to whine about.
SOB

Thanks SOB..ya silly bunt!

Yikes...look what I have done now. I am very sorry to anyone who was offended by my original post. I was just making a little jest in the hopes of boosting the attendance to the event. This will be the first event I host as a new member of the CM team and I wanted it to be a success.
I in no way meant to offend or exclude anyone with my little time zone joke. Hell those who were here for scenarios like Afrika Korps should remember the confusion we had during that one about time conversion and I just thought they might get a chuckle over it. Again, I am sorry if anyone was offended, but please dont let it keep you from attending tonite.
Event starts at 10pm Eastern which is GMT-6 (is this correct way of expressing it? someone please let me know so that I can use it in the future.)

I was going to attend, but after this very non-FDB like display of sincere sorrow and remorse, well, now I'm completely turned off to the event. :p Of course, it'll be worth attending to watch all you guys turn on each other as soon as you say "fire!"
-
Heh heh Nifty...I had to take my FDB hat off for a minute to make that post. I was wearing my official CM hat for that one. ;)
When I announce "Killshooter is off!!" its gonna be a fediddleing madhouse brother. Gawd I cant wait to see what kinda hell breaks loose. :D
-
Exile: ask around. Don't confuse dissatisfaction with whining. Tard.
Moose: You're wrong. They're not. And it's the Events team's job to promote events, not mine.
Skernsk: You no more have to list every non-US time zone than you do every US Time zone. However, one per continent shouldn't be too taxing. There aren't that many. I (and I'm not completely alone) have made the same request repeatedly in every tone from polite to offensive. As this is the only time I've had a response I guess it's offensive that works. Assume all you want. You know what they say. If my work engendered negative responses, I would indeed be hurt (who wouldn't be?). I'd also ask my self what I was doing wrong. But that's an assumption.
banana: It's done, although the UBB doesn't give an optimum format (that could be my own ineptitude).
Sling: Best of luck with your first, it'll make you sweat, but it's so worthwhile. See you later (if I can stay awake.)
-

Hehe, I have a feeling the trip I had with Sling out to the woodshed had something to do with this un-FDB like behavior. ;)
That big wooden paddle didn't work on Exile, though. He kept begging for more!

Hey Seeker ... I thought I'd skip the second hand stuff and just ask you up front.
What exactly have you done in the last 6 months to get this event off the ground?
-
None of your buisness, frankly. If you were supposed to know, you would.
But I'm glad it's happened; if it goes right it's the most fun a furball jock could wish for.
See you up there (if I don't screw up the time)

So that's it? You make the statement above which makes it sound like your a driving force behind this event coming to light and when asked to back up that claim you come back with ... "It's none of your business". And now it seems I'm just not high enough up in the CM ranks to have heard about all your fluff'n hard work that's gone into the planning, scheduling and overall setup of this event.
Hey man ... more power to ya and keep up all your hard work. It's starting to pay off. You've built quit a reputation in the CM group, but I guess you would know that better than I.

What is the fighter for tonight?
-
C47
-
Hehe Rip. I actually was disappointed when Daddog made the "No buffs" rule. ;)
I believe the A6m5 Zero is the plane for tonight.
-
It's the Zeke baby!! Should make for a nice tight furball. :D

I was unbeatable in Warbirds in a B25 vs B25 dogfite. :D (Its an art to get that top auto turret gunner in just the right position!)Of course, I was probably the only guy that PRACTICED dogfighting in a B25. :)

WILD WEDNESDAYS!!! (http://events.simladder.com/wildwednesday.php)

One thing you will have to learn fast about times for events - they should always be announced in two times - Eastern and.... Seeker-time! :) He never did seem to be able to make the conversion himself - ask me how I know! LOL j/k Seeker! ;)

There are 5 hours difference between GMT (as it is at the moment) and Eastern Time. In the summer there are still 5 hours difference between us, but then we are an hour ahead of GMT. CET is another hour ahead of us, so is a total of 6 hours ahead of Eastern time.
Only time it can get confusing is one or other of us puts clocks back/forward before the other!
-
Hem...
If I recall good there is Zulu Time to avoid this kind of mess no ?
Why don't you use UTC ?
link that can help :

didnt the kraits have a scenario time conversion program in sac?
think we could talk the programer into distributing that part of the program?
maybe even a link off of the ACES HIGH main page..
-
during the Akfria corps scenario there was a time zone converter off the htc webpage if i remember correctly.
-
I doubt I will make it, but I know several CM's who work hard on our events will.
<S> Gents! Have fun!

Thanks a lot to Sling and the team for a really smooth event.
That was a blast - having clouds give it a dimension AW could never have approached - and the fights were intense (if short, in my case :))
I won't be making it every week, but I'll make many, that was fun.
-
I had a great time!
Thanks many times over sling, and the rest of the CM team! I really appreciate you doing this for us!
anRky
er...um...

definitely a fun event :D
-
Why not add a small (java?) applet to HTC's site with counter to show time to the next 3-5 events and snapshots ?

Well, I can definately say that the first Wild Wednesday was a success. I shot Seeker down, 'nuff said. :D
Just kidding Seeker. You seem to be a good egg after all. Maybe we can all get along now. <S>
-
"Well, I can definately say that the first Wild Wednesday was a success. I shot Seeker down, 'nuff said. "
I tried to drag you under the mob, but they were too busy yelling "yehaa! Sic 'm banana!" to notice :)
Then I hit the silk nice and early to watch the furball and hope some one would be dumb enough to blow ammo on my chute, but for once even the FDB "Wild Wednesday <Wing up, who us?> Formation Flying team" were too focused :)
I'm *amazed* at AK seawolf and Exile getting, what, four kills on a standard ammo load in that envioroment?
Great night, thanks to all involved.
-
I can side with Seeker here banana.
He's "Been working diddlying hard for the last six months to get this event off the ground, and I want to see it do well."
Give the man a break. (Nice webpage Seeker, THAT would in fact take ME 60 months!)
Although I must admit, I don’t understand the CM duties. But to do a ex-AW “free for all” event that took 6 months of “working diddlying hard for,” you gotta wonder how much planning taking out the trash at the Seeker residence must entail. :)
-
hehe ... forming up for a quick kill is more like it. Mason and Fatty were my first kills for the 2nd round. You'd think they would know better by now. :D
-
ouch... I missed it.
-
I tried to join but it wouldn't let me. I was there alittle after 10pm. Was I too late?
Sounded like fun!!
-
I fell asleep in my comfy chair and woke up at about 10:30. I also had my porch light on. I wonder how many eggs I have adorning the front of my duplex? :D
So, uh, who won?
SOB
-
Im just curious....how did the self proclaimed furballin wild man of AH do last night?
That would be Laz of course :)
-
Lazs wasn't there...and if you were there Swager, you should have stuck around for round 2 and 3. Round 1 started at 10pm eastern and the fields were locked down 5 minutes later.

;) You mighta been lucky if banana and the mob were the FDBs, but considering we're Mongrels the choice of who to shoot at was obvious! Seeker! I'm just upset that my one ping on you didn't get me an assist! :D
-
Next week should prove interesting (Zigrat picked 109G-10's).
I wonder which weapon loadout will prove most effective.

5 kills...
It was a very fun event, I had a blast and enjoyed THE best dogfights in my time in AH during this event.
The arena was full of killer sticks, and the only comments after people (including me) were shot down were good. Something that's a-typical of the MA.
S! guys, great flying last night.
BTW banana, sorry about last night. I was in the middle of typing something back to you when my video card (V5- o/cled) heated up and froze AH on my screen. Could still move my white windows mouse on the screen but couldn't do anything else. Had to reboot and by the time I got back, you were gone. S!, great flying by you and Nifty!
