Would be nice if we could set how many rounds per tracer.
Sometimes having 1 tracer per 4 or 5 rounds only clutters the view... I'd love to be able to put 1 tracer every 10 or 15 rounds.
I fly without tracers, my gunnery has improved dramatically, but in some planes having tracers is better.
perhaps for 1.10? ;)

Also, it would be nice to be able to set tracer preference for each aircraft, like you can with the convergence.

I agree with that idea; when I fly fighters I feel tracers are useless but they're invaluable in bombers. I'd love to be able to set this individually in the hangar instead of having to go through setup (which I usually forget to do)

Agree, and add different tracer colours per weapon type.

"and add different tracer colours per weapon type".....and some of those that screech and spin around.
:D

I still can't figure how you folks can shoot without tracers..
Each time I try, I end up shooting around, trying to find the correct lead blindfolded.
It's ok when you have a straight shot of course, but I do a LOT of lead shooting.

You get used to it mrsid.
Allied planes have it easy. LW, IJN and Italian rides.. I dont even bother turning the tracers off.. since I have to shoot below d300 anyway.
Aah, but a 50 cal shot at d600 at a con that stopped jiggling because he didnt see me "shooting".. then "PING! CRACK! POW!"....PRICELESSS!

Try taking shots when pulling no more than 1 gee if you can. Point nose in front, where he is going to be, fire, let him fly through stream. Then if you get the lead too far, so what, he will eventually meet the stream.

I don't know about the other guys, but I don't use tracers to aim in fighters. I feel it's a waste of ammunition. You should either hit the target with the first burst or stop shooting; "walking" the bullets into the target with the tracers would use a lot of ammo that is better saved for killing more enemies. As a result, tracers do nothing to improve my accuracy in fighters anyway so I just turn them off (why let the enemy know when i'm shooting at him?).
In bombers though I leave them on.

This is what I want my F4U-1C tracers to look like:

Whistles, buzzers and spinners would be nice too.

Yes,
Tracer cusomation, prolly easier to program than to spell:(
Either able to set #of rounds per tracer or set the prominance
or brightness of the tracer. Seems real gun cam
footage is a little less view obstructiong then AH.
Although AH has some wonderful gunnery, a litttle
wiggle room for individual preference never hurts.;)
