We are currently discussing some potential changes for the rules concerning attendance in the TOD. This last TOD has had some definite issues concerning side balance. When Nifty divided the squads up, he had it balanced as close to even as possible. For some reason or another, several of the Axis squads showed up in smaller numbers than their commitments; however, at the same time, several of the Allied squads showed up with way more folks than their max commitment numbers on the HQ site.
At this point it is undetermined what we might do to help keep this as even as possible. One thing that you guys can do to help is to make sure that you update your commitment numbers. If you have consistently had more than your max, up your numbers a level. If you are consistently under, then drop them a notch or so.
We want everyone to have fun. Its no fun flying under conditions where you are constantly outnumbered. If you guys can help us out by monitoring your numbers and keeping them updated, then please do so. I will be sending out an email to each CO concerning your numbers for the past few TODs and am eager to hear what ideas you have to help this situation. If you have any ideas or concerns, please feel free to address them in this thread or email me at marktodd@applink.net
Thanks.

Is there a way to update the committment number on the website?

Just a suggestion...but how about allowing some walkons and using them to fill the side that is understrength?

Good question FunkedUp. I assumed there was. I know it can be done from the HQ on my end, but dont know about your end. What I may have to do is to look at the numbers for each squad over the past 3 tours or so and then email the COs on an individual basis and see what they would like to set their commitment numbers to.
As far as the walk-on idea, I dont think that would work. Daddog set the no walk-on rule for TOD to make this easier to track. As it stands now, Exile runs all the log data thru a parser to pull out the points and compile the data. If we allowed walk-ons then it would make his job a lot harder to do. Even as it is now he still goes thru a lot of extra work because of COs who dont update their roster list on the website before each week. The squad info that Exile uses is not something that is captured by the AH server log....that is why we need the list of pilots updated on the Events HQ. It makes it much easier for him to give points to the right squads.

Yes, wotan is right, but we still are looking at a better way to deal with problem.
