Interesting, before 1.08 the N1K2 was the preferred ride over the Spitfire MkIX.
N1K2 gets changed/fixed, and now we have a new F4U-1C in the making.....
Tour21
The Spitfire Mk IX has 21356 kills and has been killed 19320 times.
The P-51D has 15251 kills and has been killed 14615 times.
The N1K2 has 13628 kills and has been killed 12979 times.
The La-7 has 12635 kills and has been killed 11155 times.
Tour20:
The N1K2 has 20035 kills and has been killed 19703 times.
The Spitfire Mk IX has 17882 kills and has been killed 17213 times.
The La-7 has 11068 kills and has been killed 9738 times.
The P-51D has 13160 kills and has been killed 12176 times.
Don't you guys get tired of flying the same plane?

I fly what I feel confident in. I like the Spit but have barely flown it this tour. Lately it's been the Hurricane IIc and the F6f.

Well, I did fly the P-51D, but not the other three.
The majority of my kills this tour came in the Yak-9U, with the P-38 next, then the Spit V. I also flew the La-5, F4U-1C, F4U-1, F6F, Typhoon, Seafire, Yak-9T, Ki-61, Hurri-IIC, and the Mossie.
Variety is...the sure way to never become an expert. :)

There's been a large influx of newbies, and the SpitIX has always been a great plane for newbies since I first flew WarBirds (I prefered the SpitV there though, but then they added the 109G6/R6, and that was my main ride)...
However, don't you find it interesting that the majority of Aces High players appear to be more of the crowd that are into the best insta-action plane as opposed to a favorite from what they've read?
Case in point, look at Tour20 and look at Tour21, when the N1K2 was fixed the plane was used a whole lot less than it was in Tour20.. now in Tour21 the SpitIX picked up the players that flew the N1K2 when it was uberfied because the plane no longer offered the advantages it had before.
I just find it interesting that a few years ago in WB, you would be hard pressed to find so many SpitIXs in an arena... yet today in Aces High there appears to be more of the crowd that don't know about WWII aircraft and are just here to blow stuff up.
Could this account for the Combat Theater not being used and the scenarios being very under-populated?

I've been keeping an eye on the stats...
While the Spit IX has more kills than last tour, its % of kills is lower. Basically, all numbers should be up between 15-30%. The fact that the N1K2-J's numbers dropped speaks volumes.
Personally, I'd rather go up against a Spit than a N1K2 any day (even with the recent changes).
BTW... there is also unmatched parody of usage throughout the plane list. I'll post the stats when the tour is over. They are pretty interesting.
I am still curious to see how the new perk planes do with the free-perk-trial numbers removed. Next tour should be interesting.

Hey DJ, do you have the old top 100 archived?
You had them up for one tour, and do you plan on doing that again? I liked the top 100 of each plane type more than the other stats.

Given the sim I've played before, an arena full of Spits wouldn't be anything new to me. In AW about 2/3 of everything in the air a lot of the time would have been either a Spit or 190A8.
Regardless of the statistics, there is a great deal of variety in AH's arena. Granted some planes are more common than others--this is inevitable--but no one plane dominates the arena. I see plenty of Spits, 109's, LA's, P-51's, F6F's, N1K2's, 205's, and so on. About the only plane that seems under-represented is the F4U (the F4U always dominated AW's pacific arenas).
Furthermore, no one plane seems to have a dominating advantage, now that the N1K2 lost its "rocket boost". If the Spit IS the most common, I have no problem with it because it flies "right".

I wasn't implying that any of the much used planes have a good advantage (except the La7, but the most part no one flies it properly and it isn't the most common), just that it's interesting how when a plane gets fixed the next in line takes a boost in usage.

Nope, I don't find flying the same plane type boring:
Model type Kills In
Bf 109G-10 312
Bf 109G-6 116
Bf 109F-4 109
3 other kills in a 262 but that's as diverse as I got tour 21 :)

What scenarios?
I would love to play scenarios but I have yet to see one in AH (aside from the squad only stuff)

They used to be run on Friday and Saturday night's Jpeg, but the low turn out has led our CM team to put those on the side burner in leiu of the TOD stuff.
Personally I prefer the weekend events to the TODs.. especially since I have a better chance of attending a Sunday event.

One thing that has never changed in online flight sims is Fame and Shame.
For a lot of the user base that dictates what people fly. What gives them the best chance for being respected, and the least chance of causing themselves shame.
Feeling good about ones ego is sometimes more important then having fun.

In the latest tour I have killed the following four types the most (so far, with not many hours left, and in descending order).
Spitfire IX ---- 41
P-51D ---- 40
MOSS ---- 38
La7 ---- 32
(I've actually killed more PT Boats then I have Spits)
Last tour it was:
N1K2 ---- 51
F4U1D ---- 48
Spitfire IX ---- 44
P-51D ---- 31
The Niki hasn't completely disappeared, but I sure do see fewer of them.
I find that interesting compared to the overall figures you sighted. I'll have to reflect on that some...

My fighter kills worked out basically like Voss' did... though at about 90% less :) 13% of my kills were Spit IXs... Seems I've seen lots and lots of La7s, but only 5% of kills were La7s.

Glad to see that the greatest aircraft in the history of armed conflict has ascended to the throne. I mean come on, if we were doing this for real, what else would you want to be in?

I agree with SW, many ppl in AH just fly the easiest most "blowin stuff uppest" plane in the game. It was first the spit then the chog then after the 1.04fm the niki and now its the spit again.

Bah, I liked the "Most kills in a specific ride" stats. It was the only top ten I could actually get into, being that no one else flies the 51b much :D

Not me.
But then I don't stick to 1 plane. But, I think I might...just to piss a few people off.
Question for you SW, and whom ever agrees with you:
Don't you guys ever get tired of whining about the best killing machine until HTC is forced to screw up a good thing to squelch your stupid whines?
Take the top killer off the top and the Number 2 killer becomes the Top killer. When will it end? When we only have 1 type of plane to fly.
We should leave the Uber Aspect alone.

With the exception of NUTTZ, I haven't lost to a N1K2. And, when in a Spit IX, I seem to be able to eat a N1K2 alive! (Except NUTTZ) :)
