Hello all!
I've gotten AH to work on Linux, and wrote up a page about my experiences, and instructions on getting AH to work.
See it here (http://www.inimage.com/AH/AH_on_Linux.html)

interesting...

Very
-
i'm also corious about HTC comment about it...
-
Weeell its just basically how to run a windows app under Linux.. nothing is done to AH..
What would HT need to say about it? +)

HT might have something like 'yippee!' to say about it.
Afterall the linux crowd can no longer give excuses why they should not buy the product ;)
Seriously, if times should change to a MS hostile direction, I'm relieved that an alternative OS could be used.
-
All that I've seen of Linux has been good except peripheral support at times. I'm really now seriously interested in trying it out on my own box for the first time. More and more games are now functioning under Linux and I'd be happy as a pig in sh&t if I could give old Bill the finger and dump Windows.
Thanks for the link!

You are my new GOD..
(just kidding God...)
-
well... i'm not saying that somthing is wrong in it... just corious about HTC reaction about it! IMAO it's important thing for HTC... it's only my opinion...
-
Now if only I could make my 3com DSL modem to work with Linux I would be happy...
Cheers,
Pepe

nice. I'm gonna have to reinstall slack on my gaming box and check this out.
-
I now realise, after reading the HowTo and following some of the links, that this is not for the novice or beginner.

Need MacOS HOWTO to be bale to kick bellybutton also when in the office :D

lol. Hey, Conway, a good friend of my sister's IS Transgaming.:D
They are based here in Ottawa.
-
Hey Geoff, who's that?
-
great
-
while fun that you can get AH to work under linux and wine, I never seem to get very exited about something working when you need wine for it.
// fats

Thanks for the feedback all.
This is not for the novice yet because of a couple of bugs on AH's side (I believe) that need a Wine hack to fix. I'm going to contact HTC about this -- maybe they can fix these and have AH work fine on standard WineX.
If that would be the case, it would simplify the process a LOT -- no more compiling, patching, -- just install and run.

what about 'lindows'?
anyone think it will actually work?

i'd love it if ah worked on linux but many of my other applications wouldn't so.....

Gavriel, he's an ex of my sister's, still on good terms thought. He's one of the SCA people that hang out at the diner.
Why looking for a job?;)

lindows will never see the light of day.
microcrap's legal team got ahold of them
-
Well, lindows will really be just linux with wine installed. (if it ever comes out that is)
So you can have that right now already.
BTW, I'll post updates on my page and here when I try AH 1.09 on Linux.
-
The bad news :
1.09 included AH Voice into the main program, and now crashes on startup under WineX.
The good news :
I've fixed this error with a small patch to the WineX source. It seems this one is Wine's fault -- I've submitted the patch to Transgaming, hopefully they'll put it into their source.
Meanwhile you can find the patch on my AH Linux page : http://www.inimage.com/AH/AH_on_Linux.html

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate your effort Conway.
However imho if I need an emulater I don't install it :) besides, Wind0ze is for gaming, Linux is for other things more productive ;)

Dare to dream of a better world where Linux can be used as a waste of time and $$$ too?:p
