Title: A pile of horseshit by Wild Bill

You've got to be joking me.

The sad thing is that people who have never actually any of the massive multiplayer air games will think its true

Good marketing - lie to the consumer.

I'd like to know where they are going to find 500 people for this malta scenario when all i've ever seen in the arena is about 70-100.

"This new version of WarBirds includes new, improved graphics, new game play features, and now is the first true Air, Land, and Sea integrated, combat entertainment simulation for home computers."

LOL...Way to go WarBirds!!!  :D

Oh, I loved the last paragraph where it basically says,..uh,..what we are saying here, is we really would have liked all this to be true, but it's not.

Ya just gotta love a marketing release that also includes a substantial disclaimer.

LOL! :D

He's the new, numero uno reason I'd never become an iEN customer.  It used to be because of the "corporation" that iEN is. As well as the "Icon of PR"  Mr. HotSeat.

IF HTC closed up shop I'd go to FA, WWIIOnline.. anywhere else but iEN.

 Westy

(was hard reading that release untill I whipped out the shovel out)

hehehehehe that was some funny toejame! :D

"Simulation of the Year"  Anybody notice how they didn't say which year? :)

Some of it I think could be construde as false advertising.  First to do land air and see? I think that honor goes to AW or HTC or WW2 OL before it would apply to WB.

Skuzzy you're right :D that last paragraph was a beauty.  "Here's what I have to offer, but I could be full of toejame"

"This new version of WarBirds includes new, improved graphics, new game play features, and now is the first true Air, Land, and Sea integrated, combat entertainment simulation for home computers. "

Udie, the above statement from the marketing spile is very carefully written.  Notice the use of the phrase, "now is the first true".
This makes that particular portion of the statement subjective, or an opinion.  Had they just said, "the first" then it could be construed as a declarative statement, in which case it would be false.

The whole thing is very well written.  The words and phrases are very carefully chosen so as not to get them in trouble.  As you pointed out, they do not claim what year they won the award.

The massive disclaimer, which could be construed as a retraction as well, covers thier tushies nicely.

I have never played Warbirds or know much about iEN, but from that marketing release I would not ever join or try it.  I see too many statements that border on unethical due in part to the knowledge I have about AH.
And the other part is the massive disclaimer.  Most people should be able to see that this example of marketing does not neccessarily reflect reality.

Still,..I have to chuckle a bit when I read it.

Dang, after reading that I think I'm going to cancel my AH account and sign up for Warbirds.
Warbirds... Warbirds... Warbirds... sounds familiar...
Hey, isn't that the game that I switched to AH from?

Man, this is exactly what I have been waiting for!!!!

An online sim where I can drive a tank, fly a plane and order ships about the sea?  I can't wait to try this out!  I have been searching for a game where this could be done, glad to see that someone finally stepped up to the plate.

Too bad HTC didn't think of doing all this stuff.

Oops, nevermind, they already did.

Al Gore may have invented the internet, but I'm convinced WildBill invented horseshit.

I won't argue with the rest of that crap, but the 500 player number is not impossible.   From my experience with AW I know that a great many players maintained an account ONLY for scenarios, and never flew in the arenas.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if this is also the case with WarBirds.  I'm not saying it'll happen, but it's at least possible and perhaps even likely.

That's not true Skuzzy.  The use of the word "true" implies that somehow they are doing things differently.  I'd challenge anyone to show that.  I gaurantee that iEN can't do that.

And you can exclude yourself via disclaimer from forward looking statements.  They do not allow you to candy over outright lies from past events.  The flight sim community is very tight nit.  It would not be difficult to prove that it is virtually impossible for Wild Bill not to know that these features he's claiming a first to have already been imlimented in other sims.  Truely they have.

Well, the last S3 series had a bit over 470 unique pilots participate, so it's not impossible.

But the rest of that release made me kinda sick to my stomach. Might as well have written, "Send money, please."

"In addition to the excellent graphics, the new WarBirds III is the first game to accurately incorporate an online Virtual Battlefield and real time simulation of Air, Land, and Naval elements into one entertainment combat game. In WarBirds III, the player can fly over 55 different World War II aircraft, drive WW II tank and halftracks, or issue command to WW II ships in sea going convoys."

how many planes do we have in AH at the mo (more coming soon, lol)

and this bit
"Players can attach to ships, issue navigation commands, and defend the ship from enemy attack using all the available ship weapons. Alternatively, the player could launch counter strikes using 5-inch guns, torpedoes, or the convoy's air power."

doesn't it say something like this on the AH site??

I'm looking at this thread in a different way.  How much
of the games created were (still are) responsible from
the same person?  Also, think about how old some of the
coding must be now?

Thanks for that link event.  No matter what's been discussed here or on AGW as regards to AH or Hiech and his coding there are still folks who bear enough of a grudge (for whatever reason) to continue spouting lies and completely false "facts" by the same few WB 'fan boi's' in that topic.  And of course the two iEN guys stay true to form .

(although the ref to WWII Online (claims of people not playing as they reportedly claim it's too complex to leanr?) was just too funny)

Man,what a scam.

I may be totally off-base here, but it seems to me that selling WBIII in a retail box is nothing more than IEN trying to generate cash so they can develop WBIII even more, while the people paying get to be beta-testers.

I already paid for the the retail box for the priviledge of being a beta-tester...it was called WWIIOL.

 No thanks.
