Can someone please give me a simple procedure on how to land a plane(small plane of course) on a aircraft carrier.
I try to slow down and get aligned and flaps and all the other stuff but everytime I get blown up! thanks

Ok Ill keep this simple :)
First off there are a thousand and one techniques for landing on the carrier...MY technique is as follows.
1) Get aligned for a normal landing.
2) Have your aimpoint just prior to the end of the carrier where the cables are.
3) Come in nice and slow with 50% Flaps.
4) Drop your gear, arresting hook, and go to 100% on the flaps.
5) Your aimpoint probably has shifted a bit forward now.
6) Reduce your throttle so that you are doing a pinpoint landing on the cable end of the carrier.
7) When you land make sure your brakes are ON!!!!!!!!!
I always land with the brakes on while snatching that cable...have my finger on the brake button constantly....You will know when you land it well.
Also you never mentioned why you crashed...was it because you missed the cables, steered off, hit too hard, etc...that might help others help you.
Hope that works!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never use brakes when landing to carrier.
err.. except when Im landing lanc or something else big..:D

Yeah its a matter of opinion on the brake issue but I do it anyway...just remember if you dont catch the cables to release that brake and jack the throttle to max power and wep if you have it to get back off.....

Thanks guys, that help a lot!

When I am landing on the CV i like to NOT come in from dead astern.. what i mean is.. I will approach the CV at an angle permitting me to see the ship until the last possible moment.
I'm sure you may have seen this done in reality as well. The aircraft comes at the CV from 7 oclock pointing the nose of the aircraft actually just behind the ship. Just curve on in and straighten up just prior to touchdown.
100 knots is fine for touchdown

Hiyas,
Here's what I've assembled, your welcome to use any of it.

Also I had made small terrain to practice landing on A/C.
One gets you spawning approx 1 to 2 miles at 3000 ft ( I can't remember the extact distance and altitude ) behind a carrier that's not moving and the other is with the carrier moving. Saves you from taking off and circling around.

Landing on a carrier is largely a matter of speed and rate-of-descent control. In a typical carrier landing you will land a little harder than a normal landing as you are using a short field technique , more nose high descent at slow speed. Practice managing both to get a better handle on it.
Also to combat the lack of visiblilty over the nose pilots would often approach the carrier in a slow turn rather than straight on, only lining up with the deck at the last moment. Another technique is to slip down to the deck, this maximizes rate of descent vs. forward motion without a nose-down attitude and improves visibility. You'll see both of these techniques alot in WWII films. Of course keep in mind your gear can only take so much but carrier landings have often been described as a 'controlled crash'.

Ohh something I forgot to add.....I also page up and make my seat come all the way up and move slightly to one side usually left so that I get a better view....the view is the key to landing that spot.
