#1: kill messages squelching.
now i can squelch channel 6 and see no kill messages.
I do like to know how my squaddies are doing and what's going on in my sector. could we have the option to squelch all kill messages except of squad members? or all messages except of those in my sector (like the channel 3 radio)?
#2: compass
AH compass has a fixed scale and the needle is turning and pointing the direction. In real planes (at least those i've seen including fighters) the "pointing needle" is always at 12 oclock and the scale is a turning dial.
I suppose HTC chose the "turning needle" to make it easier matching directions on the map, but we have the plane icon on it the does that. with the "dial" compass it is MUCH MUCH easier to call vectoring and translate the absolut: "more cons from the N" to the relative: "cons at 2 oclock" or back.
think you are flying heading 300 and get that call. look at the gauge and you'll see what i mean.
don't know how these were made in WWII though....
thx,

your not looking hard enough for #2

your not looking hard enough for #2
I didn't say it is impossible. I said it's less convenient and intuitive, plus this is not the kind of compass used in real planes (for a good reason).

its there...your not looking hard enough

now i see what you mean - the auxilery compass.
this is NOT what i ment at all!
look at the normal "turning needle" compass. now instead of a turning needle, make the needle fixed at 12 oclock and let the N-E-S-W azimuth scale turn. this is the kind of compass every single plane or helicopter I ever flew, or flown in, had.
it is so much easier and intuitive to switch betwin absolut and relative directions. you want to know what is 2oc in azimuth, you just read the number at 2 oc on the scale. you want to know which way is WEST, look at the scale and it's the same "time" relative to the plane.
again, i dont know what was used in WWII.
I'll try to look for a pic.

found one. this is of course a modern vertical compass and has some navigation aids on it as well.
see how easy it is to understand that "more cons from the N" means your 3 oclock.
or that base you see at your 11 oc is actually SW (or 230 to be exact).

HT went over the reasoning for this a long while back. I doubt it will change.

I rather like that compass.
