Arrogant AW Refugees SUCK
I'm interested in knowing what you think people outside of AH and especially outside of this board think.
I have been told by others one of their biggest aversions to AH was some of the people here. I'm certain others in AH have heard this from non-AHers they know (i've heard this but don't know fer sure).
We now have good numbers in the main (200+ every night I'm on). Its possible find all types of good fights through out the entire map.
I don't know if they are AWers or old folks coming back or folks new to sims altogether. But its making for some fun times in the main.
Its also great to see them on the boards no matter how "weird" they seem. Its refreshing to see more people on the board then the same old "clique".
I'm not sure what you're referring to. But it seems the "clique" is in open opposition to the attitudes of a couple of these AW folks. I admit in the first few posts from some of them folks I didn't know what the heck they were talking about.
Whatever it was hating them seems to be the in thing. So count me in.........
Those bastards..............
-
I thought they were funny (or crazy) bastards from the get-go. Not sure what all the fuss is about. They won't be AWers for long. Soon they'll just be more filthy AH flying dweebs, and there'll be something else to argue about! :)

I have been in AH for just over 7 months now, but started out in AW a little over 3 years ago. I still play AW most days, as well as AH, so not sure what that makes me. AWr, AHr, or both? :)
I know these new guys came into the boards with a bang, and the "i'M gUd aT fLiTe sImz" approach - but that was just their humour, their way of 'breaking the ice'. A bit like going to a party (or a Con!) with a group of strangers... some, like myself, will just sit quietly in a corner, taking everything in and making 'polite conversation'. Others prefer to burst through the door, let everyone know they are there and become the centre of attention. Then gradually, as everyone gets to know each other, the quiet ones get a bit livelier, and the noisier ones calm down a tad, until we all find a similar level :)
I must admit, I don't always understand some of the "humour" I see on these and other AW boards/newsgroups, but I have always put this down to the fact I am a Brit in the middle of a group of mainly Americans. If I don't understand something, I may answer with a 'huh?', especially if the message was addressed to me, or just shrug, mark read and carry on to the next message. Sometmes, after a few replies have been posted, I may finally catch on and join in the laughter; otherwise I just ignore it... no point getting upset about something I don't understand.
In fact, I have caused some funny situations myself by inadvertently using a phrase which has a totally different meaning to those of you in the US. One of my most memorable quotes was after a frame of one of our scenarios (Longbow I think), when I had finally managed to get a kill as a B17 gunner. Bursting with the excitement of my first scenario kill (ever?) I posted on the newsgroup that I had finally "broken my duck" Well, I knew what I meant by it and it certainly wasn't what everyone thought I meant! :) It is a cricketing term (I believe) meaning I finally scored (hmm, I suppose I can see the connection! <g> ). Anyway, this little slip caused much hilarity for several days, until someone kindly explained what they were laughing about! Boy was I embarrassed when I realised... :o However, I got over it and fell about laughing myself once I knew what they meant.
Anyway, this is just one example of how attempts at humour can be misinterpreted (or in my case a simple statement can lead to a lot of humour!) :)
Give the incoming AWrs a break - they are probably about to lose their game (its not gone yet!) and even if it doesn't die, they have left anyway in disgust at EA.com.
Seven months ago I too was an incoming AW newbie and I have to say I was generally well-accepted by the AH community and, as far as I know, only ever upset gunman26 when my capture attempt failed!
I was pleased to see so many of my old AW friends already here, and seeing new ones arrive on an almost daily basis, and am really looking forward to more arriving during these uncertain times for AW. Many have only ever known AW, and will find everything very strange to begin with; moreso than those who have tried several sims. I trust I can count on you all to give these incoming newbies the help they will need, and let's stop this silly feud before it gets too far out of hand. :)

LOL! Well actually, at the time, he upset me deeply... I was just starting to get enough confidence to even attempt taking a goon to capture a field. I was used to the very flat terrain of Air Warrior, pointing the goon in the right direction, setting autopilot and making small adjustments to height and direction all the way to the target. It took a while for me to get used to the concept of an undulating terrain and having to fly over and between mountains, so that taking a goon wasn't something I was keen on doing at first.
Then this particular evening I decided to have a go... I arrived within a sector to find they weren't quite ready and spent some time circling waiting for the call. When it finally came, my heart was racing... I could see things were still fairly busy at the field, with fighters still upping, so was of course concerned about getting shot down. I managed to land near the edge of the field and let the troops out - heck, the fact that they had to run to the maproom just never occurred to me as I was used to the way we captured in AW. Naturally the troops didn't all make it to the maproom, and gunman26 dam near exploded!
He spent the rest of the evening complaining to the rest of the Bishops about how useless I was, they would have to start all over again, etc. That evening when I logged I very nearly didn't bother coming back.
It is not often something gets to me like that and I really thought that I obviously did not meet the strict standards expected (as I perceived it then).
Next morning, I logged onto these message boards, really wanting to post something about it, only to find somebody already had. I added to the thread and was overwhelmed by the positive response - messages of support, encouraging me not to give up, really helped me decide not to leave AH and let that idiot beat me - I've never looked back since (well, except to check my 6! <g> ) :)

Hoiw about changing that then? To perhaps
"Arrogance scks!" or "Arrogant AWers and AHers suck!"
Seems reasonable to me, but then I'm an AW'r
first and foremost and always but that's another story.

Am I the only one who finds this hilarious coming from Vulcan? :)
Kettle meet Pot, Pot meet Kettle, there now we can all be friends.

flossy, you should fly for the knights , we always do stuff like that.
Knights drop troops
A) in the wrong place
B) too low
C) into ack
D) crash C-47
E) get shot down
thats why we use a bunch of C47's to take a field , somebody got to get through.
When i left the other flight sim for AH a year ago, i just snuck in and started flying, then people started to say things like "hey, an't you that 44MAG from the other filght sim??"
it's fun trying to get a c-47 through the mountain passes, kinda like flying the hump in burma
44MAG

just wait till the day WB goes under and they all flock to here.

As per Milenko's post, have to specify AWers otherwise its self-abuse :D
And Rotorbrain... I'm not, nor will I ever be your pal!
Moose, I still got a lot of old pals in WBs - can't wait for the day we see Rekkof, Fokr, etc here :)

Perhaps you could change your SIG to reflect that feeling.
How about: Purple Monkey Balls are OK by me, or I don't like you if you don't like purple monkey ball, or maybe even I don't care for the mindless scum that came in here and decided the place we AHers like to hang out "sucks purple monkey balls".
Your statement makes a somewhat "All Inclusive" AW pilot reference.
