Post by: cooljay on March 17, 2002, 04:50:23 PM
Hi,
I recently upgraded my mother board for a 1gig celeron and didnt have any problomes before (even with current vid card) then after I installed my new motherboard I am getting major flickering  . I cant even fly its so bad..offline and on. Can anyone help? I have a DFI Motherboard VIA Chipset (old motherboard was VIA also) and a HErcules 3D Prophet 4500 64MB (tested all drivers). if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Go to ViaHardware.com (http://www.viahardware.com) and download the latest VIA 4-1 drivers for your particular chipset.  This should fix the flickering.

errm if thats bad...

with the upgrade you should now install DX8.1 again, all drivers again, and the VIA drivers

was the right image but it was flickering so fast I couldnt actually really grab a shot at it. will try reinstalling DX 8.1 and see if that helps. have reloaded and install all the other drivers.

well I found the last thing I would of thought of. with the new drivers you can over/under clock your card. well when I decided last thing I took it down from the normal 175Mhz to 165Mhz and I'll be if the flickering stoped and the performance was not hit at all. I am starting to wonder maybe the chip is running too hot or fast? oh well it works now :D

I see the same thing during sunrise and sunset. Once the orange sky complete fades to blue, all is normal.

Will try underclocking and see what happens.
