Title: Firewall causing warps
Post by: bloom25 on March 19, 2002, 12:11:43 AM
I just found out today that Zonealarm was causing nearly all the warps I was seeing.  It appears AH is now using port 3004 for traffic, which was getting blocked, along with the other regular ports it always used.  After adding Aces High and AHvoice to the program list again it seems to be fixed! :)  (Make sure you allow all traffic and pick the "changes frequently" option.

You could try turning Zone Alarm off and see if that does it as well.

I can't even connect using ZoneAlarm. In fact, if I do try to connect, it'll lock up my machine.

Sandman I think maybe your machine is only appearing to lock up; try pressing "Y" key when you go in and it stops responding...lemme know what happens.

I too cannot connect to AH while useing Zonealarm.  I hit "Y" as others have said to do but my system does not leave the frozen status. I have to hit reset key on my tower, cntrl alt del doesn't even work.

I am particularly concerned because I just got cable ISP instead of dial-up and I really want to have some sort of protection.

Anyway, is there any other key besides "Y" to hit?

I've given up on ZA completely when playing AH. :(

With ZA running I get momentary screen freezes the whole time. (FPS is unaltered)  Even zooming the map in & out goes in steps. I've tried all the different settings with no luck. As soon as I turn it off all is well with the world again. Sad really never had this problem until I took a new release.

I've been using ZA for a god few years now and it's only this which has stopped me upgrading to the pro version.
