Seems that the flashing base icons provide us enough indication that there somethings going on. Lets get rid of BarDar now.
-
Could be 1 con, could be 100 cons. Doesn't do the job of dar bar.

Keep dar as it is but enable it only from the tower.
Too many whimps round here..........
mommy, the mean man is shooting at me. Mommy, they took the radar away oooh nooo.........
-
Actually Yeager, I wouldn't say they want BAR DAR because they're afraid of being shot at. Quite the opposite actually--they want it so they can better find somebody to shoot at 'em :)

bar-dar is great.. it's the dots that I don't like.
but of course we've all been down this road eh? :p
-
i would like inflight dot dar disabled in ma
have it tower only please.
-
Did somebody say radar? ;)
-
Yeager, nice compromise. Remove something while inflight. Be it dot dar or dar bar, it doesn't matter to me. Atleast HTC could try it for a week and see how it flies. If it gets a negative reaction, then remove it. A trial testing period would have much more positive effect than negative, why not give it a whirl?

"Mommy hes using the unfair 6 call thingy.........its just unfair" whaaaaaaaaa

How about this, better yet....
2 275-player limited MA's. One has way limited dar, 3K ICONS, a full day/night cycle, and maybe additional perked aircraft. The other has full DAR and no night.
Everyone could be happy, no? I see no reason why it can't be done.

If I were a socialogist, I'd say an experiment just failed.
We had an immense amount of Dar/settings whining, and the CT was established.
All was quiet for a while, although the numbers in the CT never seemed to reflect the noise on the BBS supporting the concepts the CT tried to introduce: limited dar, limited icons, every thing supposed to be more "real, hardcore and historic" (funny how "fun" was always left out of the list).
The CT numbers have stayed down, and now the Dar whiners are begining to play up again despite the fact they (all what, 30 of them?) have an arena of their own to set up as they wish.
They'll start complaining about Spitflying furballers never listening to them next.
And they'll be right; for once.
Yep, seems to me the experiment has failed.

the fields are too far apart to get rid of dar. You don't know what you are getting into without it and it is frustrating enough to see a good fight (by bar indications) evaporate on the long flight over. At least with bar dar you can change directions or land or auger. No bar dar is for guys who have nothing to lose. They ain't good enough to win a fair fight so without dar they can have victory by patience over skill.. and if they lose? well.... they were gangbanged... not their fault.

I couldn't resist at least replying in here :D. Something like the "moth to the flame", "fly on stink", "vultures over an ackless field" type of reaction I suppose regarding this topic :D. What would this be, round #5078 on this topic :p? Speaking of dead horses...
What do you do with a dead horse?
- Change riders.
- Buy a stronger whip.
- Harness several dead horses together for increased speed.
- Emulate the best practices of companies riding dead horses.
- Outsource the ridership of the dead horse.
- Affirm that "This is the way we have always ridden this horse".
- Change the requirements, declaring that "This horse is not dead."
- Perform a cost analysis to see if contractors can ride it cheaper.
- Promote the dead horse to a management position.
- Have the lawyers bring suit against the horse manufacturer.
- Put out a news release that, in the unlikely event the horse is dead, it was dead before it ever came to the company.

Leave radar as is but just add a delayed update, thats all. 1 minute or so, or maybe even random from 30secs+ Which kills all the players using it for SA +)

I believe they gave it the name of “Combat Theater”.

I say leave it as it is but add some realism by giveing altitude readings to the dots.. Say within a couple thousand feet and....
Two types of bar dar. One for planes and one for GV's. I'm sure a WWII spotter could tell the difference between the two and radar wouldn't even see GV's.
