Nimitz just download the most recent Divx codec. It will play with real player. If you dont have real player there a free version on thier site. Theres a link to the divx site in the film viewer thread.

Bunch of uncultured boors.

Put one of Brahms' Hungarian Dances or one of Dvorak's Slavonic Dances and MAYBE it would be good.

Preferably Brahms' Hungarian Dances #3 or Dvorak's Slavonic Dances #1.  Though it would sound quite good set to Beethoven's 5th Symphony, 4th movement I think.

Or maybe we could go for a more somber effect with Palestrina?

Very well said DMF. I agree unequivocally about #3.

HOWEVER, I must disquisition on the Palestrina suggestion. Since I assume that you are referring to one of his vocal madriagal/motet pieces, it would not fit this film here. Although it would make a film of B17s being shot down consummate; since the subdued effect of the piece would go along with the simulation of a B17 crew being shredded by 30mm cannons.

Indeed!  It'd be great if Wotan could cue up his vulching with the robust aspects of that piece, though that could be asking too much.  Still, it's worth trying.

Specifically I was thinking of Palestrina's Adoramus Te, though using that could well be too introspective and depressing.  A more upbeat piece might be Bach's 2nd Brandenburg Concerto, 3rd movement (Allegro Assai).  That would move Wotan's film away from the really heavy-handed religious element of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, 5th movement to a more upbeat sort of vulching experience.  What are your thoughts?

After reviewing the film again, DMF, pervicaciously believe that one of Bach's counterpoint pieces would go along with Wotan's highly somber piece and flying. The counterpoint technique of the piece would fortify the sense of one-on-one air combat, as counterpoint (for the musically definition challenged) note-against-note. Polyphonic music would suit this piece like none other.

Thus my final recommendation is Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 1 in C Major, Forlane.

Hm.  Now that you mention it, Bach's use of counterpoint would indeed be an effective accent for Wotan's vulching... or for that matter, any sort of air combat.  In particular, a 1v1 might best be described by any of Bach's concertos or suites in this respect, though I feel that the Brandenburg Concerto #1, movement 1 lacks the sort of ending counterpoint necessary to accent a 1v1 encounter.  Still, it could work for a vulching mission, but beyond that I'd hesitate to consider it.

A fine choice, indeed.  Do you think that Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #5 might also be suitable?  It's a bit "light," so to speak, but it could work.

Wagner!?!? Try 'Tonight' from West Side Story (Bernstein). It would fit the lameness of American planes! German Ubermenschen composers should NOT be associated with such unappealing aircraft.

Too, Wagner just doesn't blend with American planes. Plus, Wagner is a little to in-your-face for me; his stuff becomes boring quick. The thunder is there, so to speak, but it's lacking overall appeal. Probably because it was written for an opera.

Oh well, Wagner's Symphonies suck as well.

What's with all the streaming meadia?

I can't rip your films off and build a library out of streaming media!

I have film of Todd and Nath flying if any one want's to put it to music  - "I'm a Barbie gurl" would seem to be strangely appropriate.

Here's on using Virtualdub's blur and temporal smoother filters. Makes for small files and not bad quality.

Im using Mainactor 3.65 for my editing program. I have the full ver but they do have a trial ver up for anyone that wants to give it a shot. you can get it at http://www.mainconcept.com. That 31 meg film took me about 3-4 hours to put together because im used to the editing program.  Thats of course taking a couple breaks. Oh and yep its streaming because my ADSL has a cap on the upload. Thats only for emails though. If I had some free storage space you guys can direct me too I'll upload it thats not in streaming format.

Mave

Btw the only advice I can give you is play around with your editing software. A couple months ago thats 31 meg film would have been a couple days work for me. Now its a few hours :D

After looking some AH p47 guncams and comparing them to RL guncams of p51s and p47s i have to say there is huge difference.

1. AH planes in guncams lose their wing almost without exception.
Until now i've not seen that in real guncam. Usually RL guncams show fuel streaming out/flameout or engine start windmilling/puff smoke.

2. AH planes in guncams take only few .50cal hits..10-20 counting on tracers hit(usually see around 3 tracers hit before wing blows off). Thats around 1/4sec burst. RL guncams sometimes show real hosing especially against fw190s...over 1 second of continuous hitting. Must be nearly 100 rounds, sometimes more.

here example p47 vs 190 in AH by sancho.
http://www.56thfightergroup.net/films/gc-is1-sancho1.avi

come on..how about little more realistic DM?

Can you guys stop with the RealPlayer stuff?

I can't view any of those because I won't install the spyware package known as "RealPlayer".

Are Windows media compatible formats just too large?

i use wmv as well

190a5 stalingrad (http://personal.jax.bellsouth.net/jax/t/y/tyr88/jabo.wmv)

the voice in the film is hitler explaining why stalingrad is important.

bigweek (http://personal.jax.bellsouth.net/jax/t/y/tyr88/bw4.wmv)

music is Hoyt Axton. this was an test film using all sorts of codecs quality is poor but real producer is a very usefull tool.

fyi in big week in that pass I killed 5 (2 were scored as assists)buffs in a 1:53 landed then upped and killed a p38 and a p47 before frenchy killed me on the deck.

RealPlayer is a pain in the ___ .

I made few films earlier with TV-Out/Video-in connectors of my Radeon64Vivo and VHS-recorder and encoded avi's to wmv with Media Box; http://www.e-soft.co.uk/encoder.htm
