what editing programs do you guys use? like wotan having music to the background and things like that.
-
To add music I use dubit. Has to be a wav file though.
-
VirtualDub does it all.

I use Adobe Premier 6.0. Got it with my Pinnacle DV500 video capture card.
This combo RULES! Best quality vid I've ever done. Who the hell needs to wait for the production companies to release DVD collections of my favorite TV show? I've got TIVO, Pinnacle and a DVD burner. :)
I'm currently doing AHFilm testing to see which codecs give the best results, and how small I can get them by converting to some form of MPG.

how do i convert mp3's to .wav format?
i have virtualdub. i was up till freakin 5am this morning tryin to figure that stupid thing out. you can do just about everything imaginable with that program. im still not sure how do do anything with that thing. any help with that program is greatly appreciated. im still trying to figure out how to cut time off the avi's that i have and colaberate them with other avi's and do stuff like hb and milenko. i have a long way to go but i have a feeling it will be worth the final product if i ever get it done.

I use Decode Pro to convert MP3 to wav, get it from Tucows.
In the menu of VDub choose start and end select to edit your videos then encode them. Use append function to string them all together.
Try to find DivX 4.02 codec, it's one of the better versions, encode at 910 or 768 kbps for decent quality and semi-small output files.
Doberman, I have Premiere 6.01 as well as a LOT of other video encoders, none of them equal the versatility and ease of use VirtualDub allows. ;)

weazel: just wondering do those codecs show in you ah film selection list?
HiTech

The other 18 codecs I have installed do. ;)

Try Pinnacle Studio and work your way up to Adobe Premiere. I find Pinnacle Studio to be the best suggestion I would make to somebody getting into digital video editing. It will do anything we need including adding soundtracks at the exact start and end points, fade sound and or video, use transitions and wipes and clearly explain everything in an inch thick manual. After you've put your film together you can upload it to their site for sharing in a number of formats e.g. windows media file, real video

Played around with VirtualDub a bit tonite, and you're rite. The ease-of-use factor is high. Not quite as full-featured and versatile as Premeir, but it sure does the job.
I've tried a couple of different audio converting programs buy havn't found one I've been overwhelmed with yet. If I'm converting from mp3 back to wav, I ususally just use Winamp. :)

I save the AVI uncompressed and import it into my AVID 3.o as a Quick time movie. Still trying different export compressions to get a smaller file with decent quality.
