Title: Quick Question: the 234
Post by: Taiaha on March 26, 2002, 12:44:12 PM
I see the stinger in the tail of the Arado is now modelled.  But have they actually modelled the periscope that you can use to see what's behind you?  This was a fundamental feature of all Arado's and it's there as art in the model, but there doesn't seem to be a key for it.  Is there something I'm missing in the keymapper?

OK, thanks.  As long as I know I'm not being more incompetent than usual, I can wait--although I hope there are plans to add it at some stage.

I wonder how hard that really would be to implement... Wouldnt it work something like the bombsight?  You could look down and you're facing your six with a crosshair or something of the sort ...... ??

Ya, I though of the same thing. I just don't know how hard/time consuming it would be to add to the code/

Be nice to add it to the hat switch, push it up to get view through scope... I also was thinking that a version or 2 of the 110 had oblique mounted 20 or 30mm fixed at a 45 degree angle behind the cockpit firing forward and that if you pushed the hat switch up you would see cross hairs above you for aiming those guns. Though maybe it was only the Me-210/410 and He-219 that had those oblique mounted guns, but any how its just a thought.

IIRC Pyro or someone else from HTC stated some time ago that they had already coded it and tested it and found out that the scope had some clipping problems. So that's why there's no scope.

That makes sence... It's too bad though.

The impression I got was that the problems with the arado scope were fixable but there wasnt time for this most recent release to be included.  IOW, its still on the workbench but just shelved for the time being.  The Arado without the scope is like pigs without feet.....or something

Well let's hope it comes off the workbench soon!  I love flying this plane, but there was a very good reason for that scope, because your SA just sucks without it.

That's a neat idea for the upward firing guns also (yes, it was the 110, this Schrage Musik installation was also added to FW 189s and to certain JU88's, as well as the Owl).  Just another way to open up a Lanc!
