Pretty scary case of mistaken identity. There are 3 other people in my town with my exact same name and I hope the BMV never pulls my picture out for a line-up.

When I applied for my 1st home loan, a guy with my first and last name (which is quite rare, 99 total families in the US at the time of my fathers geneology check) showed up on my TRW owing $5000 in back taxes to the State of California. At the time, I had not earned enough over the course of my life to equal $5000 in State taxes. I assumed this would be easily resolved.......not so. I had to prove I wasn't him. I had to get witness statements and rental records for the time in question to prove I didn't even live in the same city as this guy.

I had similar situations happen to me. There are 3 guys in my town with the same first, last name and middle innitial. One of them was a dead beat and TRW got our credit records crossed more than once. It makes an impresion when you can walk into the local TRW office in police uniform complete with sidearm and point out to them they can't keep their records straight. I walked out with a letter of apolgy as well. :)
