I just don't see how that can be legal. I would hope that anybody caught (lol yeah right at that speed) driving in exess of oh say 150 to 200 mph on a public road would spend a few years in prison to learn the lesson....
Wow! at 180mph you go 45 miles in 15 minutes!!! that's aprox. 3 miles a minute. You'd be a mile away before the cop could get his car started and get on the road. 2 miles away before he got up to speed enough to realize you're out of sight. At 250 mph you go aprox 4.166 miles in one minute. I just don't see how this can be legal, driving isn't a right it's a privilage........
nice car though :D
-
But very ugly!
Hell it looks like the funny little CRX's we have around here with all the add on crap and paint that don't match! lol lol It just needs some "MUGEN" stickers!!
I will take this anytime

Bear in mind, if I won the lotto, I'd keep this garaged in Germany, near the Autobahn. :D Or in Eastern Montana...after I grew tired of driving it, I'd have it partially pay for itself by touring it in Car shows. :D

Nice "Farm Machinery" GTO! ;)
-
It seems I saw or read somewhere that all Bugatis are custom made and you have to be accepted to own one - much like applying for an upscale condo in NY.
The source said that they wanted to make sure the new owner had the means for upkeep of the car and wouldn't be forced to sell it if they fell on hard times (and hence, sell it to someone who wouldn't take care of the car).
I don't think you could own one, Rip. They'd be afraid the car would be up on blocks in front of your trailer home inside a year :). And besides, I don't think it comes in brown.

Its a joke in the European circle of car builders, has to do with the engineering differences in American Auto manufacturers and the European Auto Manufacturers. I have American Farm Machinery too (Ford) as well as a German car, and I must admit, they're (the Europeans) waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of us in the engineering dept. :(

How about this!
Its only 995,000$
or if you have the cash there is even a P-38 for sale!

:D ;)

Long term, yes, but I don't currently have a Pilots license, it would probably take me the better part of a year to be even qualified for jets, let alone Vintage WW2 aircraft. The car is within reasonable grasp, immediately after winning the lotto, the airplanes? Still a dream away no matter how much money you got.

Would it take a year if you didn't have to work while doing it?
Are the requirements for certification in a single engine (piston) WW2 aircraft any more difficult than any other single engine (piston) aircraft?
-
That car looks like a dildo on wheels.
If I won the lotto I'd get myself a Yak-9 or Yak-3 from Russia. Or hell, even an I-16 or I-153- those things would be chump change if I won the lotto. Can't be more than a hundred thousand.

Bah, that judge has character, and its the down in the dirt trump on it load muscle car character that shouts I am American and love it!
as opposed to I am to good for you, you lowly peasant character of some euro cars!
lol I bet that Bugati needs a full time mechanic to ride shotgun to fix all the stuff that falls off as you drive it around!
:):):)

i thought flyable P-51's sold for about $100,000
-
Nah, Vintage aircraft are very expensive... the ones that were really from that era.
I saw a magazine artcile a while back (several years ago) with a bunch of old WWII planes for sale.
P-38J- 1.5mil
B-17- 3.5mil
I forget the rest, but they were way up there.

The P-38 at the museum near my home is privately owned and flyable....$1.4 million.

GTO, you'd have loved what I drove for about 6 months in my Junior year in HS, '69 GTO, Stock 400 convertible.:) Traded it for a nice little '64 Falcon convertible that had a 302 Boss dropped into it with a Hearst In-line shifter. Ahh, the days of glory...anyway, those car couldn't hold a dime to any German made car at the race track these days, they're getting over 100 hp per litre out of their engines today! and suspension/cornering, forget it, American cars suck for corning.

Yeah, they would be. WW2 aircraft are high-performance category (>200 hp, retractable gear, high-altitude capability, etc). Lol... even if you could afford to buy one, you could never afford the insurance!
... but to dream, though... :)

The old iron was pretty bad in the handling department, but it is not hopeless.
http://www.globalwest.net/
These guys manufacture suspension systems for older cars. I bought their setup and it was a night and day difference, It made my old Goat handle very well.
In legue with your BMW? No, but not so far behind.
I read an artical back in the day, where a 64 goat with this suspension went through a slalom course and on a skid pad faster then a 93 vette. :)
What makes old cars so fun is, being able to make them into what you want :) What can you change on your beemer?
-
you know what I like about older cars, vintage cars? YOU CAN WORK ON THEM YOURSELF! Today's auto's, I don't have a clue...:( Sure do drive nice though!

Wow! you really want to go there? here's a starter:
http://www.dinanbmw.com/
Let's just say if you got the money, you can make a BMW not street legal :D Personally though, I'm saving my pennies for an M3. 333 hp of pure madness.

I'd send my folks on a worldwide, year long second honeymoon.
Gdamn they deserve it.

LOL that place is in the same town as my work!
Interesting stuff, but can they make is sound like an American V8?
And not one that has cats messing the sound up, I am talking headers, and mufflers!
Nothing sounds good like a Big V8.
P.S. I am talking cars, its not fair to bring up aircraft engine sounds! :)
-
A double slide, this 45’ Prevost XLII is equipped with Marathon’s exclusive "intelligent" electrical system. It has an underbelly entertainment center with a 20" television and stereo system, a Girard awning package that operates by remote control, invinca-shield to protect the front of the coach, and massage units in the pilot seats. Standard features include a concealed drawer dishwasher, KVH in-motion satellite reception, stacked washer/dryer units, a 20" bedroom television and a 42" flat screen salon television.
About $1 million...but that is traveling in style.
-
Sound like a V8? hehe, don't think so! your right, nothing growls like a big block!
Now your talking Midnight! :)

Er..they have about 200 centers nation wide..which one is near you, or rather, which town do you live in?

Your right, sound does not have much to do with performance! but man, it has something to do with the feel and appeal of the car.
You know, you get in, turn the key, the old beast rumbles to life, you let it warm up a bit, then tap the throttle and the car jerks to the right from the torque. You have to crank the radio to hear it over the engine!
It's also sitting in the car you rebuilt! That feels good.
Everything about most new cars is sanitary, and mostly boring. No doubt your BMW is a better car, lol but it just does not have the same personality, if any really. :)
Oh and I live in Fremont, CA about 20 minutes north of San Jose, and work in Mountain view.
-
If I won the lotto. I would do the same thing as the rest of you. Give most of it to the IRS
-
Midnight....it is still a bus man...a BUS! I don't take the bus now!
Rip, you need to clarify how much we "won"...I've seen lottos won at a million, and at 30 million and up! Definate difference.
If I won a million I wouldn't even quit work.
If I won 30 million...I'm otta here...and THEN let's talk toys!
easymo....if you win the lotto come and talk to me. A trust with an underlying operating company wrapped in an insurance product would keep the IRS at bay.

Maybe thats cause you live on a tiny little island and have nowhere to go.;)
You call this "just a bus"?
-
LOL...
Okay...it does look pretty sweet inside.
and....your quite right...there is nowhere for me to go.
Besides...it would never be able to negociate the roads here, and our speed limit is about 25mph.
-
GTO, not a "better" car, but certainly a "different car for a different purpose". I'm just as in love wit' big blocks as you! My German auto was >< close to being a 2001 Cobra SVT, but alas, the Germans won me over...again.(Used to own Audi's too)
Curval, my GO/NO GO for work would be 5 million. :)
-
Rip, that's the best performing production *sportscar* I've ever heard of...my yaw dropped first time I read the specs...
The problem you'd have however is that if you are "a normal" person...money alone wouldn't cut it. The production is so small that they normally go to all kinds of celeberties and notable car collectors.
EDIT/with a quick clance didn't notice its top speed mentioned. In finnish tech-magazine they mentioned a figure of 406 km/h...that's 252 mph guys. :) /EDIT

I'd buy AH and perk the spits and ponies

You have the same odds of winning the lottery rather you buy a ticket or not.

That's gotta be cynicism 'cause it's certainly not math.

Not sure exactly what I’d do if I won the lotto. But I have a very comprehensive list of things I’ll never do again.
-
If I won that much money I would spend it on Vegas trying to multiply it.
Whats left of it I would fill a pool with cocaine and crack-potatos and make an orgy while I despair on how horrible and hollow my life is.

You'd never have to do anything just because you needed the ride. You'd actually just be doing it for fun.
If I had millions... I'd have to get one of these:
Figure the whole thing would run about $90,000.
